This week is Trans Awareness Week, and honestly… it couldn’t have come at a heavier moment for me. 

Every year, this week is supposed to be about visibility, education, and honoring the resilience of trans people. But right now, it also feels like a reminder of how much hate we’re still up against just for existing.

I shared something about the trans community on TikTok...something meant to help people understand what it feels like to be trans. And in the middle of that vulnerability, someone decided to leave a comment wishing violence on trans people. Not criticism. Not disagreement. Violence.

It shook me. I’m not going to pretend it didn’t. Reading something like that as a trans person hits in a place that’s already tender. It’s terrifying to realize how casually some people talk about our lives like we’re disposable. And it makes me furious...because no one should have to brace themselves for that kind of hatred just for showing up as who they are.

Trans Awareness Week matters because this is the reality. Because behind every statistic is a person trying to survive in a world where a stranger feels entitled to dehumanize them publicly. Because trans people deserve more than to be treated like targets.

So I’m using this week to say this clearly: we are not going anywhere. Our lives matter. Our voices matter. And hate...no matter how loudly it shows up...doesn’t get to define us.

If you’re trans and reading this, you’re not alone. If you’re an ally, this is the moment to show it. Speak up. Hold the line. We need you.

And to everyone who thinks comments like that are just “jokes” or “opinions..." they’re not. 

They’re dangerous. And I refuse to stay quiet about it.
