Hi, I’m Raj.

​Some people meditate for peace, I ask questions. 
Basically, my work is to meet the smartest people and get into their minds. Not literally. 

I talk to them to learn from their expertise, their choices, and their life. And I take my viewers along for the ride.

For me, figuring out money, business, health, relationships, and life was so confusing in the beginning, and I’m sure so many others face the same problem. 

But it gets a little bit easier when you have the right people sharing their lessons (and occasional disasters).

When I’m not doing that, I’m hanging out with my dog, Crypto, who, unlike the real crypto, never disappoints me.

I always advice my students to start reading even if they are reading just 10 pages a day.

You are wasting time if you are doing sales in the name of finance. 

It looks so cool to work as a finance intern until you get to know that the only thing you have to do is sales.

I don't know why such types of companies even exist who play with the emotions of students by giving them a fancy title and fake hopes. 

Have you ever wondered why companies can't specify beforehand that it is a sales role and not Finance? 

Because people are more attracted towards this title thinking that they will get the better opportunities and pay. 

There are many students who do it just to get that finance intern tag irrespective of the work. 

Please don't do this. You are wasting your time and the space in your resume.

It's better to wait for a while and keep searching on LinkedIn for some genuine opportunities. 

You don't need to start your corporate career from the 1st year of college itself. Don't be in a hurry.

Just copy pasting numbers on a templated financial model will never help you.

I think we all see dozens of financial model on LinkedIn every day.

But what about the quality of these reports?

Will just copying the numbers from screener and blindly applying the historical growth rate help you get a job?

The answer is no and the fact is that I see this thing only in most of the models.

I have said it again and again that being able to make a financial model is not an edge.

Anyone can learn within a week. It's just Microsoft Excel + Financial Analysis and nothing else.

In many models I see that the excel skills are good but what about analysis skills? That's where the problem is.

Spend very less time in making a model and as much time as you can in understanding the business and its industry.

Go through the annual reports in detail and read as many documents as you can. Then only you will be able to make reliable projections and efficient reports.

Till then it's of no use!!

How to get better at equity research?

The most wanted career option in today's time and most of you are going wrong about it.

Most of you think that just by clearing CFA you will become a top notch analyst earning in lakhs every month.

But it's not that simple as it seems.

As I always say, CFA is just a starting point and the real hardwork starts after that.

CFA will help you in gaining quantitative knowledge i.e. how to read financial, how valuations are used, how the three statements are linked etc.

But the real equity research goes beyond that. You also need to develop top notch qualitative skills which can help you make sense of the numbers and valuations.

Just understand a simple thing: every analyst has the same financials, reports and numbers which you have. So will you be able to differentiate yourself in your research?

By adding a qualitative edge. And that will when you will read annual reports and conference calls of different companies from different sectors.

Also when you will read about the successful investors and their mistakes.
