My grandfather was a Berliner. He had to leave for Bolivia because of the war.
Two generations later, I've come back.

I landed in my grandfather's city 19 months ago, not as a tourist, but with a mission. After 16+ years building companies in Latin America — a region that mostly looks to Silicon Valley for inspiration — I came here to build a bridge.
A bridge between Europe and LATAM.

And Berlin has welcomed me, my wife, and my three daughters with open arms. This city embraces diversity. It's a place where, as a startup founder, I feel like I'm in my own personal Disneyland — an amusement park of ideas, connections, and relentless energy.

This week, that feeling became a powerful movement.

I was in the room at The Delta Campus — my second home in Berlin — for an invite-only event to kick off "Berlin auf die Eins" (#BAD1). A campaign to make Berlin the #1 startup hub in Europe.

Listening to Julian Teicke, the mayor Kai Wegner, and founders like Jan Oberhauser (n8n)- pretty huge in LATAM- , Daniel Khachab (Choco), and Marius Meiners (Peec AI), the energy was electric.

This isn't just talk. It's a commitment.
Berlin has the raw ingredients:
→ 250,000 university students
→ 30,000 researchers
→ The powerhouse of the German economy
→ A culture that pushes you to succeed

But for Berlin to truly become #1, it needs to build more bridges. Not just within Europe, but to the world. To regions like Latin America, bursting with talent and opportunity.

That's why I'm here. To connect these worlds.

As Julian said, the goal is to turn our collective ideas into concrete action. The mayor has committed to listening. Now, it's our turn to speak up.

Two founders. Two companies that changed travel forever. Ten years apart.


In 2016, I had the privilege of meeting Brian Chesky— the man who turned a spare room into a global movement. Airbnb didn't just disrupt hospitality. It made the world feel smaller, more human, more connected.

Last week, I sat down with Johannes Reck, co-founder of GetYourGuide — the company that did the same for travel experiences. Built from Berlin. Scaled globally. A European champion that proved you don't need Silicon Valley to change the world.

Both of them understood something I've believed my whole life:
Tourism is one of the most powerful forces on the planet.
It creates jobs. It moves economies. It opens minds. And when technology amplifies it — the impact is extraordinary.

I didn't arrive at this belief through a business school case study.
I grew up in it. My parents built their first hotel in Bolivia before I was born. I spent my early years organizing events for thousands of people, learning that hospitality is, at its core, about human connection.
That foundation never left me.

After 16+ years building startups across Latin America, I'm now in Berlin — the city my grandfather was forced to leave during the war — building BridgeLATAM. A platform to connect Europe's innovation with LATAM's talent, markets, and untapped potential.

And this week, I'm at ITB Berlin — the world's leading travel trade show, celebrating its 60th anniversary.
It feels like everything is connected.

Two icons of travel tech. A lifetime of passion for this industry. And a mission to build bridges between two regions that have so much to offer each other.

Since 2017, my mission has been clear: accelerating the ecological and social transition at a global scale.

Funny enough, I once declared that I would never be an entrepreneur — and absolutely never work in events… Well, life clearly had other plans!

In 2017, I left a comfortable position in a multinational company to dedicate myself to this new generation of impact companies and entrepreneurs, and to embrace entrepreneurship.
I launched ChangeNOW, a summit that, in just a few years, has become the world’s largest event of solutions for the planet.

Each year, we showcase 1,000 solutions from all over the world and bring together more than 40,000 participants — including investors, media, talent, elected representatives, top executives, ministers, scientists, activists, Indigenous leaders, artists, and the general public... People who don’t usually cross paths.
It’s an exciting moment of the year, when polarization can still be broken, and when people who are often presented as opposites can be seen talking and working together.

As ChangeNOW grew in impact and influence, we developed year-round initiatives to accelerate change at different levels:
- I launched the ChangeNOW Hubs movement, deploying local events to scale positive impact in their regions and contribute to impactful events worldwide
- We co-organize high-impact events, such as the World Living Soils Forum with Moët Hennessy, and the Universités d’été de l’économie de demain with Mouvement Impact France
- Under the mandate of COPs, we facilitate public-private dialogue and help action-oriented stakeholders participate in intergovernmental events

My objectives through ChangeNOW are clear:
- Connect stakeholders willing to drive positive change, at all levels
- Make the transition inspiring, desirable, inclusive, and widely embraced

I also contribute by sharing insights from my experience on topics such as:
- Women’s entrepreneurship and the entrepreneurial journey more broadly
- Pioneering eco-production practices within the event industry
- Career shifts toward purpose-driven work
- Scaling impact and accelerating systemic transition

On a personal level, I support the impact ecosystem through active involvement with 50 Partners Impact, Founders Future Good, and Climate House.
