I'm the cofounder and CEO of three companies: SparkToro, software that makes audience research accessible to everyone, indie game maker Snackbar Studio, and the vastly superior alternative to Google Alerts: Alertmouse. I'm also the author of Lost and Founder: (2018), prev founded & led Moz (2001-17) and am a frequent keynote speaker on marketing and entrepreneurship topics. But, I'm probably best known as the amateur chef husband of renowned author, Geraldine DeRuiter.

Search happens everywhere. Not just Google, ChatGPT, and Bing. Our latest project with Datos, A Semrush Company analyzed search on 41 major websites via their desktop panel and found that if you broaden the definition of search, Google is 73%, not 90%+. And ChatGPT is 3.2%, well behind several players rarely mentioned in the conversation.

And, if billions of searches are taking place on dozens of sites, not just "traditional" and "AI tools," maybe SEO should be bigger than those two categories as well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I am a "full stack" CMO helping Tech companies define and communicate value to their clients and stakeholders for a successful growth. My experience in both marketing and product helps me stay customer centric, and handle efficiently both strategic and operational stakes.
   
I worked in different industries, highly competitive and under heavy transformation. I designed and marketed innovative products in complex international markets. I transitioned into Tech in 2021, looking for greater impact and agility.  I'm particularly interested in FinTech and GreenTech, and I also worked with HRTech, InsurTech and FMCG clients.

I started in a scaleup environment at Estée Lauder Russia. My company grew from 11 to 200 persons in 3 years, and I ended up as Clinique Marketing Director, managing a growing team and expanding marketing plans - we were opening 2 to 3 shops per month.

I then came to France for a postgraduate management program at Sciences Po and joined Renault. I built the methodology for understanding international customer needs, strategized the brand & product lineup, developed innovative concepts such as Kwid and Arkana, and led France small cars marketing team - backed by quantitative and qualitative data all along. I launched first Renault hybrids in France, with multiple growth marketing experimentations and digital tools, and achieved the target mix ahead of time with a strong customer and dealer network support. I completed INSEAD General management program in 2018.

After I moved into startup world, I added relevant trainings from Maria Schools and Growth Tribe. I intervene on the full funnel: from awareness, acquisition and activation  to retention, revenue and referral. I worked with FinTech and GreenTech startups as part-time CMO and on project basis, and in 2023 I joined KNAVE, a FinTech developing and operating all-term rental programs, as their 1st CMO.
