🙏🏼 Discovering I’m a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) has also been profound. It’s shaped how I approach life and work, teaching me to embrace my creativity, empathy, and knack for connecting the dots. While being an HSP comes with its challenges, I’m grateful for the perspective it’s given me—embracing progress over perfection and building systems that work for my brain.

😊 Throughout my career I’ve worked in academia, tech, entrepreneurship, and non-profit sectors. Each role has sharpened my skills, broadened my perspective, and strengthened my resilience—ultimately helping me become more of my true self.

✍🏼 But the invisible thread through it all? Writing. From fact-based research reports to fun, emotion-filled copy, I’ve honed my voice and craft. In my current role at Venture for Canada, I write emails, newsletters, blogs, reports, and social media content while building partnerships and strategies.

👀 In my spare time, I write about being an HSP, careers, friendships, and relationships—and I’m currently working on a poetry book!

It’s not “new year, new me.” This year is about “new year, best of me.” ✨

You see, I don't want to fundamentally change who I am. What I do want is to be more in alignment with my authentic self. 

That means, changing habits that no longer serve me, letting go of old beliefs, and harnessing more joy, creativity, connection, and love into my life. ❤️

I want to be the best version of myself and one way I’m doing that is through a 4 month health program that focuses on nutrition, movement, and water intake. 

This program is intense, with a strict meal plan, accountability check-ins with a certified holistic nutritionist, webinars once a week, and a promise to myself that I can and will do this. 💪🏼

I start next Monday, January 12th and I’m both nervous and excited. 

My “why” behind doing this program is simple - to heal my gut. I’ve had gut issues for as long as I can remember, my doctor “diagnosing” me with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). While managing symptoms, I feel like I’m not getting to the root cause to heal it. 😔

When your gut is out of whack, so are most things - like your hormones, sleep, recovery time, you name it. 

Lately, I’ve noticed that I haven’t been showing up as my best self - bloating, fatigue, and a lack of energy. 👎🏼

It affects every area of my life, from personal relationships and professional performance to achieving my dreams. 

That’s why I’m ready to change my habits and become my best self. It’s not a goal, it’s a way of being. 😁

If you’re an ambitious individual, I see you. This time of year makes us feel like we need to have it all figured out, but you don’t.

Instead of trying to accomplish everything, start with one thing for this season. Think about something that will move the needle, to help you realize your full potential, be in alignment with your true self, and make your dreams a reality. 💫

Now that you know my intention for this season, I want to know, what’s yours?

After a long day this past Wednesday, the last thing I wanted to do was leave my home (it was snowing and cold). ❄️ 

But, I purchased a ticket for LinkedInLocal Montréal a few weeks ago and told a few people that I would be there. 

I gently reminded myself that connection is incredibly important and once I felt the energy in the space, I would perk up. 

And guess what? I did! Chatting with and seeing Melissa Maughn speak straight from the heart about personal branding was so inspiring. 💜 

A few things lingered in my brain and on my heart from what she said: 

- Stop trying to be "professional" and start being you
- Your personal brand should reflect your values
- Let's reframe "what do you want to be known for" to "who do you want to be known as"

My absolute favourite part that got me thinking was, "What two words would you use to describe yourself?" 

All I could think about was creative freedom. To create without inhibition, from the soul, and do so in whatever manner. ✨ 

Now, I want to know, what two words would you use to describe who you are (remember, not what you do)? 🤔

Ok, I wanna know, what’s that one thing that’s moved the needle for your career? 🤔

I’ll go first, aligning my values with my work. It’s helped me determine what kind of environment I want to work in, how I want to feel (excited), and what my non-negotiables are (like flexible working conditions, mission-driven org, and somewhere I can grow). ✨

"If I can build my website myself, I should."

That's what she believed. So she did.

Her DIY website wasn’t bad. It got the job done.

But in all honesty, it didn’t feel like her anymore nor did it reflect who she was becoming or support where her business was going next.

When Jodi Tingling, MSW, RSW booked a website refresh with me, we didn't actually start with design right off the bat… We started with clarity first.

I sent her a brand intake form and comprehensive content planner that forced her to slow down and really examine her business.

Halfway through, something shifted:
"I think I filled this out in a B2C way… but I actually want to focus on B2B. Trainings. Workshops. Organizations."

So we paused, went back to the drawing board and rebuilt her website strategy around her future, not her past.

Because here's what most people don't talk about:

Maybe this was something you needed to read today…. Because it definitely was for me.

When I was planning out my goals about how I wanted to feel and what I wanted to do more of this year, I came up with so many desires that made me cringe including:

Shifting into a more advisory model for my business…
Entering a dance showcase with the aim to eventually audition and compete in some competition…
Or flying to more places this year especially on a solo trip…

The thought of doing these things all make me feel so delusional, which makes it more of a reason why I need to do them.

Because the visions that are showing up for you when you think about them are actually your true innate desires.

So I invite you to lean into them. What have you got to lose anyway?

Is it Cringe enough?? 😬😬😬

Was asked: 
"What are you envisioning this year for you?"

Took me a minutes to bring back the list of things I want to feel and experience, then a visceral feeling of embarrassment showed up. 
 
As I was sharing about the trips I wanted to go, the meeting rooms I want to seat on, the people I want to work with, the fun and fulfilling friendships I want to nourish, the learning I am excited to participate on, I felt embarrassed, some were ambitious, some too cringy. Maybe even delusional. 


Have you experienced this? 

If sharing your goals doesn't feel cringy, if announcing your offers doesn't make your stomach flip—you're probably not dreaming big enough.

The fear of embarrassment is actually a compass.

It points directly toward what matters most.

Toward what you're not willing to settle on.

Toward who you're becoming.

When I talk about pivoting your brand, your business, about building something more impactful than what's safe—it feels embarrassing. 

When I talk about my white fence porch and willow trees in the front yard, it feels cringe.

Exposed. Too big.

And that's exactly how I know it's real.

Playing it safe feels comfortable because nothing is at stake.

But the dreams that are actually yours? 

Those make you cringe a little when you say them out loud.

Because they're true.
Because they're vulnerable.
Because they require you to show up as someone you're still becoming.

So here's my metric for 2026:
If I'm not embarrassing myself regularly, I'm not going for what I actually want.

If I'm not cringing at my own audacity, I'm playing small.

Embarrassment is not a sign you're doing it wrong. It's a sign you're doing something that matters.

That's your authenticity fighting against playing it safe.

That's you choosing belief in yourself over fear of judgment.

When you share your vision and wonder if it is delusional? 

That's you honoring who you're becoming instead of who you've been.

2026 is the year I embarrass myself more.

More honesty about what I want.

More boldness about what I'm building.

More truth about who I'm becoming.

Because I care more about living with Joy, audacity, curiosity and integrity than living comfortably.

I invite you to join me.

Embarrass yourself more.

Talk about the big thing.

Share the audacious goal.

Say out loud what you actually want.

The cringe you feel? 
That's growth pushing against safety.

And that's exactly where you need to be!!!!

A few years ago, I sat at my desk staring at my website, paralyzed by a question that felt way too simple to be causing this much stress:

"Should case studies be blog posts or portfolio pages?"

And then came the spiral: What if I choose wrong? What if I build it one way and realize six months from now I should've done it differently? What if this one decision derails everything?

So I did what felt safest at the time.... I published nothing 🙃

Here's the myth we don't talk about enough: that there's a "right way" to structure your case studies, and if you don't figure it out before you start, you'll mess everything up.

The truth is both formats serve you, just differently.

✨ Portfolio case studies are decision makers—clean, skimmable, outcome-focused. They're for the person who's already warm and just needs that final nudge.

📖 Blog-style case studies are relationship builders—the messy middle, the pivots, the lessons. They're for trust, for SEO, for the person who's not ready yet but quietly watching.

But here's what shifts when you stop forcing yourself to do both at once: you actually start building.

One strong portfolio case study per project gives you momentum. Later, when your foundation is solid, you repurpose that same story into a blog post. Same story, different depth, different purpose.

If you've been stuck here, it's probably not a content problem. It's a strategy one. And strategy is what we can untangle when we work together.
