I lead the development of the Customer Experience and Insights network, which consists of 130 colleagues across 50+ affiliates. Our main goal was to enhance the daily customer experience, and we achieved this by crafting and implementing a strategic roadmap to boost customer centricity across the region, resulting in increased loyalty and business growth.

To ensure continuous improvement in our customer experience initiatives, we implemented a data-driven Customer Satisfaction Measurement in 50+ countries. Additionally, we created a regional PMO, which streamlines project prioritisation and overall impact.

Through these initiatives, we converted thousands of customer pain points into positive engagement opportunities, significantly elevating the region's CSAT, NPS, and overall CX.

Why does a Health Economist teach Global Team Leadership at JAMK University? Well, as a consultant with over 17 years of experience in international projects, I've learned a lot about working with and leading international teams. This is knowledge you can't gain from reading books or taking training courses. I've learned the ropes by doing, making mistakes, and occasionally succeeding as well.

Drawing from my experiences, I teach future team leaders the skills and insights necessary to effectively manage people and teams in international settings. Having taught this course to more than 430 international students, I've received overwhelmingly positive feedback. It's been a genuinely rewarding experience to share my knowledge and watch these future leaders grow and develop.

Keski-Suomen hyvinvointialue

As a Project Manager, I led an economic evaluation of the impact of increased user fees on social services utilisation in the healthcare district of Central Finland. This evaluation covered safety phone services, rehabilitative day activities, and home-delivered meal services. Additionally, the project assessed healthcare personnel's opinions on changes in service eligibility criteria and their effects on support for home care and family caregiver support.

My responsibilities included study design, strategic prioritisation of the services and municipalities involved in the evaluation, and overseeing a thorough data collection process. This process involved analysing service utilisation data and conducting 500 client interviews, carried out by a research assistant and an eight-person research team from the University of Jyväskylä. I also managed and collaborated on both qualitative and quantitative analyses.

Our work resulted in the creation of four thematic reports, providing actionable recommendations to healthcare district decision-makers. Presenting these findings to the management team and the board of the healthcare district was a key highlight. This also demonstrated my ability to translate complex data into strategic insights.

Participating in this project during Finland's healthcare reform was an invaluable learning experience. I gained new insights into the practical challenges related to the use of health economics in the public health sector. It also enhanced my understanding of the functioning and dynamics of the governmental sector.

Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam)

As an internship supervisor, I utilised my academic background and experience in health economics consulting to guide and mentor master’s students specialising in Management, Policy Analysis, and Entrepreneurship within the Health & Life Sciences Master's programme.

The students engaged in research projects with a range of healthcare organisations, consulting firms, pharmaceutical companies, and medical device companies. In this role, I served as an intermediary between the university and these organisations, ensuring that the research projects were suitable and beneficial for all parties involved.

I was responsible for reviewing and providing new insights and suggestions to refine students' research proposals. Additionally, I mentored and encouraged students to overcome challenges and stay on track with their writing schedules and graduation deadlines. I oversaw the successful completion and grading of over 30 master's theses, contributing to the enhancement of academic rigour and overall student performance.

Alongside my supervisory duties, I delivered guest lectures on healthcare financing and healthcare policy, which were well-received by the students. This role was also a rich learning opportunity for me, as it allowed me to be involved in a wide variety of healthcare research projects.

As a Regional Health Economist at Roche, I supported affiliates in the Netherlands, Belgium, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Portugal. My work involved collaborating with market access teams to conduct budget impact and cost-effectiveness analyses for diagnostic products and services. I managed the adaptation of health economic models and aligned study designs with the clinical practices and reimbursement systems of each country. Through leading discussions with medical experts and key opinion leaders, I deepened our understanding of local healthcare systems, enhancing our healthcare economic analyses and value messaging.

Diagnostics are an essential early step in the patient care pathway, guiding treatment decisions. They have a significant, but often indirect, role in improving patient health outcomes. This indirectness makes demonstrating the impact and economic value of diagnostic products challenging. I excelled in translating these outcome and value pathways into concrete health economics analyses and recommendations, and in sharing health economics methods, models, and best practices between the countries.
