Ricky Flax

On Monday, I won Scale-Up Entrepreneur of the Year at the The Allica Bank Great British Entrepreneur Awards, which still feels a little bit surreal.

I’ve never chased awards, and to be honest, it’s not something I ever really expected. But looking back at what we’ve built this year as a group… it truly has been unbelievable.

When I walked into the IBC Simply office 13 years ago, I had zero intention of staying in the industry long-term. I came in to help out for a bit, and somehow that turned into scaling IBC, building the Delightful Food Group, and growing alongside March Foods Ltd

It’s been messy at times and definitely not a straight line, but we’ve learnt an insane amount along the way, and I’ve loved every second of it.

None of it (genuinely none of it) would have been possible without the people inside this group who show up every day, take ownership, and care about what we’re building, along with the people around me in my life who support me through thick and thin.

I can’t thank you all enough. There are far too many of you to tag, but you know exactly who you are. We wouldn’t be anywhere near this point without you.

And thank you as well to Frankie James for an amazing evening and all the work that goes into bringing the awards to life.

Big end to the year ahead for us at Delightful Food Group, and I’m excited to see where this momentum takes us next!

Area Sales Manager

LeKtroniX, a Rockwell Automation Business

Responisble for generating/developing business across the South East & London, providing customers with up to date information on their account, from current repairs to cost saving products and services. 

I am targeted with a minimum of 7% growth within the customers accounts, of which I have achieved year on year. As well as internal growth within existing accounts I am tasked with bringing in new business which includes winning back old accounts who may of started using a competitior. 

One of my favourite duties within my role is helping train and develop others who are new in the business/industry - In particular one of my achievements is training a new Regional Manager who went on to over achieve their top target for their 1st year.

- Running the bar at Le Talbooth restaurant being in charge all of alcoholic beverages including stock taking and providing a very high standard of service and presentation
- Supervisor at the Pier Hotel, included running the restaurant to a extremely higher standard than normal from the experiene and teaching I had from Le Talbooth
- Learning all aspects of the restaurant from what ingredients went into each dish, to what wines best matched each meal to keeping up to date with all new and old world wines on an extensive wine list 
- Passing the following courses, cellar management and being rewarded with a level 2 WSET certificate
- Meeting and greeting some of the most wealthiest individuals and families across the region and UK meant I had to be able to relate to all kinds of customers and adapt to their needs as well as remembering their preferences in drink

Bar/Restaurant Manager

Ambitious and passionate individual who works well under pressure and thrives on targets. My experience within a high-pressured, commission-only sales environment for more than four years has proven my dedication and focus; I'm driven to go above and beyond to make every task a success!

Communication and time management are two of my key strengths, but I also pride myself on my ability to think on my feet, as well as resolving problems swiftly without becoming flustered. As well as working extremely well solo, I believe that I shine when working as part of a team, and particularly enjoy leading and coaching others.
