Patriot Brands contract manufactured cosmetics and nutraceuticals for well-established brands looking to expand their reach in South Africa, as well as low run manufacturing for brands new to the market.  

A significant channel was promotional cosmetic manufacturing (you know those branded lip balms, sanitiser etc.) 

The promotional cosmetics channel included in-house printing, design, copy. It closer resembled a marketing company than a factory. 

As the Owner and CEO. I was responsible for overseeing all aspects of the business from the strategic vision, go to market strategies and business development through to delivery of products to market. 

Employed 50 people at time of exit.

I was building a programme to cater for kids from 5th to 8th grade kids 
helping them build emotional quotient. 

Then I got incubated at COEP's bhau institute, Applied for YC startup school but got rejected. 
Had a team of 5 people with a small office at COEP Bhau building. 

We launched our MVP version and it didn't work out. 
The market that I was in was shrinking. 

It made a lot of sense for me to quit working on this idea. 

Closed this company and started exploring different markets.

I started my first company while I was still in college. 
Built a team of 10 people. 
Grabbed a contract & made around 1.5 lakhs. (for myself) 
Due to insufficient cash flow couldn't pay the salaries on time. 

I did a terrible job at managing the team 
The biggest lesson I learned was to sharpen the axe before you cut a big tree. 

Failed to build this because I was doing this just to make money. 
Shut down the company and started focusing back on studies and building my skills.
