I paid $1200 for a call with a “LInkedIn expert”.
It was disappointing.
 
A couple years ago a client brought a LinkedIn creator to my attention. The person had a couple hundred thousand followers on here. And their posts consistently got hundreds (if not thousands) of likes.
 
I was curious.
 
Especially since their content seemed rather surface-level + obvious. What secrets did they have that I hadn’t figured out yet?
 
So I booked a call for $1200.
 
They were friendly. And they gave me one helpful insight: the copy with my recent carousel post was repeating what was already in the slides. So it wasn’t acting as a good “hook”.
 
But the ending of our call was painful.
 
I asked several questions to better understand their actual strategy. How were they getting SO MUCH TRACTION on their content? That’s when they stunned me with a question.
 
”Have you heard of “engagement pods”?
 
F**k. The secret to their impressive engagement was that it was fabricated. Whenever you find yourself admiring someone on here that consistently gets 100s or 1000s of likes on every post, know that it’s only possibly if….

1. You spend HOURS on the platform every. single. day. Engaging with dozens if not hundreds of other people on the platform.     
   
2. You're a part of a pod or use automation to guarantee your posts get loads of engagement. 
   
3. You were famous BEFORE you started actively posting on here. 

I'm sure there's exceptions.  

(because there are in every situation)  

But if you find yourself lusting over the people who seem to "have it made" because their posts always get hundreds of likes, know that those are the three paths to get there. And you might want to choose different metrics to chase.  

Because...  

Even if your posts get crazy traction, it doesn't guarantee you'll get clients.

I never intended these shoes to be a part of my “brand”. I bought the first pair so I’d have funky kicks on when I competed in Speaker Slam a couple years ago. But something unexpected happened....
 
Every time I left the house in them:
 
Strangers smiled
People asked questions
And folks even asked to take pics of them
 
These brightly coloured kicks create immense joy.
 
And people started associating these crazy sneaks with me. “I recognized you right away by your shoes.” (this has been said to me multiple times)

Why do I have so many?
 
I didn’t want to be sad when the shoes died, so I bought a back up pair. Then another. And I got another set for my bday last month.

Now I have four pairs. 😂

What are you "known for" that has nothing to do with your actual work?

You’d be better off with 200 views per post from a highly specific group of people that see you as credible than getting 10,000 views on your posts from a broad audience.
 
Going viral isn’t the goal.
 
Getting your message in front of people you’re excited to serve is.
 
And then? 

You want to invite them deeper into your world. You want to build a relationship with them. You're not McDonalds trying to sell millions of 99 cent cones, you're looking for a dozen Dream Clients to do bigger meaningful work with.

Relationships > transactions.

This is how my ADHD gets me in trouble.

My excitement tricks me into thinking I can DO IT ALL.

At once.

P.S. Do you try to do too much at once?

I used to dream of having a Wiki page. Part of me really thought having a profile on that site would represent that I'd "made it". 

I took it off my list of goals years ago.

But I'd be lying if I didn't admit that my ego enjoys seeing the AI summary Google spits out when you enter my name.

Sure a couple things are weird/wrong:

• Growth Habit isn't an "agency"
• I didn't "spend my 20s as a high school drop out". That's still very much a fact now in my late 40s. 😂

But it's kind of bananas how detailed it is. 
And most of it is right.

P.S. Are we entering an era where you need a decent AI summary to be seen as legitimate?

I only posted once in the last 17 days.
And I'm onboarding 9 new clients this week.
That's thanks to

the simple systems I have in my business (like the Rocketship Method™) that turns Strangers Into Clients. Even when I unplug.

So what did I do for the last two and a half weeks?

Ate yummy food.
Laughed with the kids.
Had meaningful convos with my love.

I slowed the heck down.

I meditated, read, and wrote (a lot). And I went back to basics. I spent a couple days reviewing my values and then mapped them out my goals, systems, and calendar to ensure they actually fuel those values.

7 years ago, I was a Director of People & Culture in tech. I loved the leadership coaching I did in my role. I could clearly see the impact it was having on people. 
 
And I knew I wanted to do more coaching.

If you want to boost your manifesting prowess, this surprising tip is for you. 


Switch your manifestation books for fiction ones. 

If you are interested in manifestation, you probably started your manifestation journey with a book; maybe The Secret, Creative Vizualisation or a book by Neville Goddard or Joe Dispenza. 

Then you read another book on manifestation. 
And then maybe another and another. 

You're a switched-on person with more than a 2-second memory, so you probably noticed that every book on manifestation is saying pretty much the same thing - sure, it's dressed up in different ways over time, but it is all very similar. 

So, reading more and more books on manifestation is only going to help you so much, and tbh, it is probably going to get a little boring. 

But something that IS going to help you is to read fiction. 

Reading fiction, especially good fiction, does so many good things for your brain. 

Reading fiction:

🧠 Increases neuroplasticity. 
Neuroplasticity is the brain's ability to create new neural pathways, and that is exactly what we are doing when we use manifestation techniques such as visualisation, vision boards and affirmations. 

❤️‍🩹 Boosts emotional intelligence. EI is key to being able to observe your thoughts, sit with them and master them, and that is, in turn, key to overcoming limiting beliefs which are holding you back from manifesting your desires. 

🗣️ Improves vocabulary - the better your vocabularly the better able you are to describe and clarify your intentions.

🎨 Amplifies creativity; when we are more easily able to get creative, we are more easily able to be 'in flow', which is the state of mind required for effective manifesting. Creative endeavours also raise our vibration through finding our joy. 

🤗 Builds empathy, which supports emotional intelligence and also helps build within us the understanding that everything is one.

December 16th to January 16th are the shortest days of the year. 
A very tough time for many folks mental health.
Thankfully there is  literally light in sight now

Im also finally beginning to rebuild my Linked In World after my old account was finally imprisoned for life with no chance of release.  

For a while,  I thought I wasn't going to bother with a fresh one,  but there are  many old friends that Ive missed on here.

Some of my clients are surprised when I start talking about the 12 Universal Laws of which the Law of Attraction is just one. 

One of my clients was so excited to learn about the others she began gifting books on the 12 Universal Laws to all her new coaching clients! 👏 Got to LOVE that. 

I use this quote by Zig Ziglar a lot when I am speaking about the Law of Compensation also called the Law of Reciprocity. 

This law is used a lot in sales - the idea that if you give away something for free, it makes people feel the need to give something in return. 
When I talk about it I tend to focus more on the energy of giving. When you give, when you serve, because you want to make the world a better place, through however many actions that comes back to you. 

I was talking to a client this morning, a coach, and when she spoke about the difference she is making in people's lives, she lit up, she sat straighter, her energy changed completely.  IT MADE HER MAGNETIC!

And that's how I know she is going to be so successful. Because she is leading with her heart - she genuinely wants to help her clients to get what they want. 
And - every person she helps to get what they want - is getting her one step closer to getting what she wants.

When you are choosing names for your programs, containers or courses here's a little magic you might want to consider.

Ever heard of Lexigrams? 
This little-known form of divination can reveal surprising truths about who you are, hidden right within your name!

The term lexigram coined by the amazing astrologer, mystic and author Linda Goodman, and desrcibes a method of divination through the creation of anagrams. 

They are quite simple to use and I have found them to be amazingly insightful over my life. My mum taught me about lexigrams when I was a child and she learned from Linda Goodman’s book Star Signs. 

✨ All you have to do is take a name and see which other words, phrases or even sentences come to mind from that name. 
✨ Write down all the words you can see and then use your intuition to guide you to form sentences. 
✨ You can use letters more than once in a phrase or sentence, but not in the same word. 
✨ Don’t choose a phrase or a name that has more than 15 different letters in total (repeated letters are fine) or more than 4 different vowels. This is just because you would then be able to make too many words and therefore it wouldn’t reveal any insights. 
✨ You can also do this exercise with words and phrases others than names of people. Although doing it with names is so fascinating - there’s a certain orange person - ‘he who must not be named’ that when I did a lexigram of his name I only got two words MAD MAN. 

I always loved that what first popped out of my own (full) name when me and my mum sat down to do mine when I was about 11 was ‘wild child’ followed by ‘lippy, hippy, wild-haired’ - totally accurate then and now 😂 

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that when I got married and took my now ex-husbands name the only three letters that disappeared from my name were W A Y. 
I literally lost my way and only found it again later when long after we had separated I opted to change it back. 

Linda Goodman herself said of lexigrams that they can be ‘silly, trite, serious or sacred’ and so I invite you to look at them with this in mind and enjoy seeing what insights you can glean from them.

I use Zoom a lot for my work, for 1-1 sessions, groups and for recording content for YouTube, Instagram and other bits and pieces too.
 I know not everyone loves paying for it when some similar things are free, but for me it's super easy to navigate and I understand it, I don't always love learning how to work software so sticking with what I know is good for my stress levels 😅 

I use it on the app and in my browser. 
But whenever I open it on my browser and it welcomes me with 'One Platform to Connect' my brain immediately follows with 'one platform to rule them all, one platform to find them, one platform to bring them all...'

The majority of issues people have in their business aren't actually business problems at all. 


At their core, they are most commonly problems with confidence, fear and self-belief. 

And they manifest as poor or delayed decision-making, imposter syndrome, and money-mindset blocks. 

This leads to stress, anxiety and burnout. 

These problems don't go away unless you face them. 
Until you get to their roots, bring them into the light and heal them. 

People often come to me with their personal issues - they want reduced stress, to sleep better, to feel less fearful and more confident. 

And what they get is that and more, their businesses become more successful, their bank accounts start to look healthier, and their client lists fill up with more of the people that they really, really want to work with. 

It's a natural effect of the work I do. 
More joy. 
More ease. 
More clients.
More money.
