Growing up in commercial real estate, I did what any rational person would do...I became a prosecutor. It was my dad, the VP of real estate for a Fortune 200 company, who told me not to follow in his footsteps. 

I became an Assistant District Attorney where I tried 102 jury trials primarily focused on violent felonies (robberies, gang cases, and murders) and child abuse. 

Working in that world pushed me in ways I would have never expected and showed me the power of storytelling and persuasive communication. I left my life as a lawyer and built a tech company to transfer these skills to the masses. 

After selling that company, I began working directly with some of the most talented founders in the tech world. Through my boutique consulting firm I worked side by side to help those founders raise over a billion dollars in capital, grow from ten people to hundreds of people, and turn their early stage companies into unicorns that are growing fast to this day. 

And then life, as so often happens, pulled me back to where it all started. Commercial Real Estate. 

Together with my two co-founders, we saw an opportunity to solve the problems I'd witnessed growing up (and they'd witnessed working inside of it), especially the broken data and opaque nature of CRE.

What if the business leaders in the commercial real estate industry had access to all of their data (and market data) through a true intelligence layer so they can move faster with greater precision?

But here's what most miss: prioritization requires a destination.

3. the obstacles you'll likely face
4. the vehicle to overcome those obstacles

Mine? 
A healthy relationship with Ashley, best friendship with my kids, a healthy body + mind, and the resources to own a space where we all visit for a family get together once a year (minimum).

I just got off 'stage.'

Here's what most people get wrong about events.

They treat them like brand awareness. 

Show up. Speak. Hand out cards. 
Hope something happens..

Then they wonder why the pipeline didn't move.

Here's the shift:

Events aren't just awareness plays. They're the start of an outbound engine.

The term I use: Inbound-Led Outbound.

^^^ (I first heard this term on a post with Chris x Adam talking about how scaling RB2B was going)

You create content and experiences that attract the right people. Then you reach out while you're already on their radar.

They saw you on stage. They read your post. They saved your framework. Now your outreach has context. 
Trust is already building.

Cold outbound: "Who is this person?" 
Inbound-led outbound: "Oh, I just saw them speak."

Same message. Completely different reception.

The system:
1. Before the event: Post about the topic you'll cover. Build anticipation.
2. During the event: Capture content. Photos, quotes, frameworks.
3. After the event: Turn the talk into 5-10 posts. Reach out to attendees while you're top of mind.

One stage appearance becomes:
- A post about what you learned preparing
- A carousel of the core framework
- A story about a moment from the room
- A belief post sparked by a question someone asked
- A how-to post teaching the method you shared

One event. Five posts. Dozens of warm outreach opportunities.

Events and content aren't separate strategies. 
They're one system.

Create inbound gravity... PULL.
Then reach out while you're already in their orbit.

What if everything I needed to know about leadership, I learned at circus camp?

I'm writing a TED talk about exactly that.

At 8 years old, I was terrible at juggling. 
Dropped every third ball. 
Couldn't keep my balance on the tightrope. 
Face-planted off the trapeze more times than I can count.

But those failures? 
They were teaching me how to run companies.

Juggling taught me to keep moving when I drop things. You don't stop and stare at the fallen ball. 
You keep the other two in motion. 
Same with business… when one deal falls through, you keep the pipeline flowing.

Balance showed me that true stillness comes from constant adjustment. 
Standing still on that wire meant hundreds of micro-movements every second. 

Just like leading a team through uncertainty.

And falling? 
That taught me the ground isn't the enemy, just a place to reset. 
Every face-plant was data. 
Every bruise was feedback.

These lessons show up every day now.

When a client project goes sideways, I keep the other pieces moving.
When market conditions shift, I make the micro-adjustments.
When a strategy fails, I hit the ground and bounce back with better data.

But the best part of writing this talk hasn't been connecting these dots.

It's been the conversations it's sparked.

Old friends from that circus camp reaching out with stories I'd forgotten. 

“Remember when you finally nailed the triple juggle and immediately tried to teach everyone else?"

New connections sharing their own childhood-to-boardroom parallels. Turns out, a lot of CEOs learned their first lessons in unexpected places.

This talk about play and wonder is turning out to be quite playful, and full of wonder, itself.

Not to mention how helpful these skills are for being a father.

The 8-year-old who couldn't juggle would be amazed.
The 40-year-old who can juggle 113 clients is grateful for every dropped ball back then.

Most people think boundaries kill opportunities.
