Robert Harris

Seasoned IT professional with over 25 years of leadership experience in helping people and organizations understand, plan and adapt to evolving technology.  International speaker, trainer and presenter.  Published technical author .  Awarded Jenkins Ambassador status.  Recipient of Opensource.com Emerging Contributor award. ITIL-certified.

In my day job, I manage multiple departments with cross-functional teams to provide internal tooling, container and cloud enablement, security oversight, SaaS offerings, deployment support and devops services.  I work collaboratively with, and provide technical guidance for staff, management, and executive leadership in  areas across the company including R&D, IT, Tech Support, and Product Management.   My teams are both operational and charged with application development, research, and innovation.  I function as a SME in key infrastructure areas and open-source technologies helping to roll out technology and processes across the organization while balancing improvement, research into cloud-native technologies and long-term support of legacy processes. I also have developed and delivered corporate training sessions to help attendees keep up with new technology in the open source world.

You can also regularly find me presenting hands-on workshops around topics such as Git, Gradle, Jenkins, Deployment Pipelines, Continuous Delivery, and others at various conferences including the Open Source 101, All Things Open, Continuous Delivery Experience, OSCON, Jenkins World/DevOps World, and Gradle Summit.  As well, I develop and deliver online technical training through Safari and  O'Reilly Media.  

My first book was "Professional Git" - a comprehensive, easy-to-read, basics-to-advanced guide to using and understanding Git. Suitable for all IT professionals.
