In April, I took on a full time role managing a continuous miner unit at Gateway Mine as a shift production supervisor. This role was an easy transition, as I had been filling in at the position for the last 5 months of my Operations Associate role. I feel that the benefits of this position are endless, as I develop leadership skills, management techniques, hands on experiences, etc. As I gain more experience with this role, I feel that it is preparing me for elevated management levels in my future.

Underground Production Supervisor

I spent 6.5 months working as an engineer at a mine sight.  During this rotation, I performed every day engineering tasks under the engineering manager, as well as worked on several larger, long-term projects.  Since January 2012, I have been working in the production side of the business at two underground coal mines.  I started out running equipment on both production and idle crews. From there I began working with foremen to understand their duties.  I have rotated through all of the departments at an operation and been involved in most aspects that allow it to run successfully.  I received my state examiner's papers in October.  After spending a month in Australia at several Peabody operations, I returned and began filling in as a shift production supervisor.  I have obtained my Mine Manager papers in the meantime.

Operations Associate

Rotated between the departments at the mine to learn the managerial skills necessary at all levels of the mine (Engineering, Maintenance, Prep Plant, Underground Operations, Safety and Compliance, Warehouse and Accounting).

Worked with test engineers from the mining department on developing a prototype to the Hilti TE MD 20 underground hydraulic drill.

Time studied and analyzed results to determine best practices at most of the Peabody Midwest surface mines.
Participated in Continuous Improvement projects at mines to determine deficiencies and how to improve them.

Ambitiously taken on the Engineer turned Sales persona. 9 years in sales or sales support. Plenty of time spent on the road building relationships and enduring the "pains" of unhealthy travel.

I'm a Mining Industry professional, with an additional passion for helping others prioritize their health and well-being. Mining has taken me to some of the most amazing places! It's also taken me to some of the world's worst hotel gyms! Navigating the obstacles of travel quickly became my game.

Business travel is a challenge on the physical and mental health of the individual. I am motivated to help others maintain a balanced and active lifestyle on the road, ensuring they can perform at their best in both their personal and professional lives.
