I was stuck in the depths of depression and anxiety. I didn’t love the person I was - on the inside or outside.
 
The gym was my outlet. But my first few years were full of trial and error and I made my fair share of mistakes.
 
Eventually things started to click. I began diving deep into how the mind and body work, educating myself and shifting emphasis to balance, mindset, and sustainable habits.  This journey has truly given me my life back. And now I have found my passion in helping others do the same.

I don’t train to be a bodybuilder.

Before you say you're depressed, be honest.

You:

When movement disappears, sleep is inconsistent, food lacks nourishment, and life becomes all obligation with no outlet, your mental health takes the hit first.

This doesn’t mean therapy or medication don’t have a place. They absolutely do for many people.

But you can’t out-medicate a life that’s built against your biology.

Start with the basics:

• move daily
• get sunlight 
• eat real food 
• sleep consistently 
• do something that makes you feel alive again

Mental health isn’t just about what’s happening in your head.

It’s deeply tied to how you live.

Pro tip: stop wearing running shoes when you lift.

You need a flat, stable surface under your feet.

Not a cushioned, squishy base that absorbs force.

Running shoes are built to absorb impact.

Lifting requires stability and force transfer.

That’s why going barefoot or wearing barefoot-style shoes are elite.
(At the very least, wear flat shoes like Vans or Converse.)

A stable base improves:

• balance
• stability
• force production
• muscle engagement
• overall movement quality

This matters on every single movement, but especially on your big lifts: squats, deadlifts, presses, hinges.

Your feet are your foundation.

Get that wrong, and everything above it has to compensate.

Small change. Big difference.

5. Systems > motivation. 

High performers need structure that fits their schedule, simple nutrition rules, default workouts, and clarity when life gets chaotic.

6. Accountability beats willpower.

Nobody thrives alone under stress. Guidance and support are what turn short-term fat loss into a lifestyle.

7. Consistency over intensity.

No extremes. No crash diets. No burnout. Just habits that work for real people with real responsibilities.

But more importantly: energy is back, confidence is higher, health is restored, and people can keep up with their kids, travel, and actually enjoy life again.

You can build a successful career and still destroy your health in the process.

I see it every day.

Hell, I lived it for a while too. It’s easy to sacrifice sleep, live in a constant state of stress, and put others or the business ahead of yourself.

High performers will often skip workouts for meetings, live on caffeine, sleep five hours, stress-eat at night, and ignore the warning signs.

Then they wonder why they feel heavy, exhausted, unfocused, and stuck in the same on-off cycle.

My client David came to me like this.

His career was demanding, and he was traveling constantly.

He was doing well professionally, but his health was slowly slipping. Energy was low, weight was creeping up, sleep was off, and everything felt harder than it should have.

He was running his body the same way most people run their health — last on the list.

Your body isn’t a machine you can run into the ground and expect peak performance from.

It needs movement.
Quality food.
Sleep.
Structure.
Boundaries.

Once we stopped treating his health like something to squeeze in and started treating it like a non-negotiable, everything changed.

He got leaner, stronger, had more energy, and was able to handle work and travel without falling apart every time life got busy.

You wouldn’t run your business the way you run your health.

Stop treating your body like a liability.

It’s actually your biggest asset.

This is THE elite exercise for hip mobility:

It’s called 90/90

It’s my all time favorite mobility drill for internal and external rotation of the hip

Sit on the ground with both legs at 90°
(This alone may already be a good stretch for you)

Then begin to lean forward to deepen the stretch

Key here is actively pressing your front knee and ankle into the ground while simultaneously raising your back ankle off the ground

Hold in that active stretch for a slow 5 seconds then release

That is one rep

Repeat 5-10 reps each side

For most people, time isn’t actually the issue. 

Yeah - life is busy, work is demanding schedules are unpredictable. Kids, travel, stress, responsibilities. 

By the end of the day, there’s nothing left.

The problem isn’t a lack of effort. It’s that exercise isn’t built into life in a way that survives real life.

When workouts require perfect conditions, long sessions, or high motivation, they’re the first thing to go. 

And then people blame themselves for being “inconsistent.”

The fix isn’t finding more time.
It’s simplifying the plan.

- shorter, efficient workouts
- daily movement that fits into the day you already have 
- clear non-negotiables instead of all-or-nothing thinking

When exercise is structured into your routine instead of treated like an optional task, consistency stops being a fight.

This is exactly what my client David did.

He has two young kids, a demanding job, and travels every week for work. 

Time was his biggest concern coming in and he was stuck in the cycle of starting and falling off when life gets busy for years. 

We didn’t add more to his plate or ask him to overhaul his life.

We built structure around his reality.

Now he’s the leanest he’s ever been, hitting PRs in the gym, training consistently even while traveling, and no longer starting over every time life gets busy.

It’s the same life, but different structure, and completely different results.

Time usually isn’t the issue. The plan is.

I hear some heart wrenching things on my calls each week.

Parents who are bedridden and a burden on their family.

Grandparents who never met their grandkids.

Family members who can’t climb stairs or do yard work without being winded.

People getting wake-up calls with heart attacks, strokes, pre-diabetes, mobility declining — all saying the same thing:
“I thought I had more time.”

The big theme is: most people want to keep up with their kids, their family, and their life without limitations.

The goal isn't to get shredded or be jacked. 

It’s just to move, play, travel, stay present, and actually enjoy the life they’ve built.

Meanwhile, they built the businesses, hit the income goals, created stability for everyone else... but at what cost?

You can’t enjoy the fruits of your labor if you don’t have the health to enjoy it.

What’s the point of building a great life if you can’t participate in it?

Not being able to play with your kids, getting winded on stairs, avoiding travel because of low energy, saying no to experiences because your body can’t keep up.

These moments add up. 

And they pull you away from the very people and memories you were working so hard for.

And that’s why most people finally change.

To climb stairs.
To travel.
To play.

Health isn’t just about how long you live.

It’s about how present you are while you’re here.

I’ve had seasons where I was technically “doing all the right things” but still felt exhausted, anxious, checked out, and constantly behind. 

I was going through the motions. Always thinking about what was next instead of actually being where I was.

And that’s when it hit me. What’s the point of building a great life if you don’t have the energy to truly LIVE it?

Health isn’t just about preventing disease or adding years down the road. 

It’s about having the capacity to show up right now. 

To have energy at the end of the day. 
To be patient with the people you love. 
To be present instead of mentally somewhere else.

I see this all the time with the people I work with. 

They’re successful, driven, and responsible. They’ve built careers, families, and full lives. But they’re beaten down. 

Their health slowly becomes the thing they sacrifice to keep everything else running.

And over time, that cost adds up.

The goal is being able to keep up with your kids, your work, your relationships, and your life without feeling limited by your body or your energy.

That’s the version of health I care about. 
And that’s the one I try to live by now.

Because being here matters. 

But being present is everything.

Have fulfilling hobbies.
Do meaningful work.
Live a fuller life.

Most overeating isn’t about hunger.

It’s boredom, disconnection, stress, and having too much mental space and nothing that actually fills it.

When your day feels empty or draining, food becomes the easiest source of comfort, stimulation, or relief.

Of course you’re thinking about snacks.

But when you’re engaged, challenged, connected, and doing things that give you purpose, the constant urge to eat just to eat fades into the background.

Food stops being entertainment.

Build a life you’re excited about, and your relationship with food changes without forcing it.

If your energy is low, that’s exactly why you should work out.

If work and family take everything out of you, that’s exactly why you should work out.

Waiting until you feel better, less busy, or more motivated is how the cycle continues.

Movement isn’t something you earn once life calms down.

It’s the thing that creates more energy, resilience, and capacity for life.

You don’t break the cycle by thinking about it.
You break it by taking action.

Not when it’s convenient.

But because your life demands more from you now.

One of my favorite food rules for better balance is what I call the damn good food rule.

If you’re going to eat something off plan, totally fine - just make it worth it.

Most people don’t overeat because they’re hungry. They overeat because food is there.

Mindless snacking. Eating just to eat. Finishing something because it’s in front of you.

That’s what throws people off, not the occasional indulgence.

If you’re going to indulge, choose it intentionally.

Make it damn good.

Sleeping 7–8 hours isn’t optional if you want fat loss.

When sleep is off, everything else feels harder than it needs to be.

Poor sleep:
• increases hunger hormones
• lowers insulin sensitivity
• increases cravings
• slows recovery
• raises cortisol

That’s why fat loss feels like a constant fight instead of something that builds momentum.

Fix your sleep and suddenly food decisions are easier. Training feels better. Energy stabilizes. Cravings calm down. Progress stops feeling forced.

Most people try to out-train or out-diet bad sleep. It never works.

Before you say you're depressed, be honest with yourself.

Stop worrying about the best way to start transforming your life.

Just fucking start.

Most people aren’t stuck because they don’t know what to do.

They’re stuck because they’re waiting for certainty before they move.

They want the plan to be perfect. They want to feel ready. They want life to calm down first.

But clarity doesn’t come before action. It comes after you start.

Life doesn’t get less busy. Responsibilities don’t magically disappear. If you wait for the right time, you’ll stay exactly where you are.

Progress starts when you choose one small, unglamorous action and commit to it anyway.

Walking consistently. Eating with a little more intention. Going to bed earlier even when it’s inconvenient.

You don’t need the full path mapped out.

You just need to stop negotiating with yourself and take the first step.

Momentum is built, not found.
