From 2011 to 2022, I led award-winning teams at Yum! Brands, and for six years as SVP, Chief Communications and Public Affairs Officer and Yum! Foundation Chairman and CEO, guiding the strategy, governance and integration of the company’s global communications, crisis communications, sustainability and government affairs functions. 

In addition to modernizing and integrating our approaches at pivotal moments, I led the framing and collaboration on our corporate strategy (the Recipe for Growth) to build iconic brands focused on increasing revenue, profitability and earnings per share.  

Our integrated communications and public affairs team navigated the company through the 2016 China spinoff, shareholder activist and regulatory pressures and helped it take bold steps to strengthen our culture and be socially and environmentally relevant to the next generation (the Recipe for Good).  A member of the enterprise risk executive committee, I catalyzed and led Yum!'s COVID-19 cross-functional responses and communications teams, minimizing business disruption and facilitating a rapid pivot of 100+ markets to contactless restaurant delivery and carryout, resulting in record $17B sales.  Throughout my tenure, I collaborated across YUM to develop and strengthen our US and international crisis protocols for business and risk, including food safety, operations, cybersecurity, sensitive issues, activism, and litigation.

As chair of our Corporate Citizenship Council, I architected the shift in our corporate purpose and the global Unlocking Opportunity initiative serving all stakeholders including frontline restaurants, communities and franchisees, and accelerated our progress and strategic planning foundation, adoption and governance progress in environmental sustainability.     

My personal highlights were helping our CEO, COO, and C-Suite achieve their goals, mentoring many and building up and coaching incredibly talented corporate affairs and brand communication leaders.

Previously, for 15 years, I counseled clients at Edelman, Burson, Deloitte, and Towers Watson; across public, private, M&A, human capital and reputation issues in the consumer, pharmaceuticals, biotech, technology, telecommunications, energy and financial sectors.
