It began with my dream job leading corporate communications at a Fortune 100 dream company. 

Our employer brand was to entertain the future.

Then the company was acquired by a Fortune 10 giant. 

My dream job went away. 

But I got to pivot into marketing at the new company. 

This wouldn't have been likely at the dream company.

So I'm grateful for that opportunity.

A few years went by, and I chose to leave the corporate world in 2018 after three decades.

Well before the 2023 Wall Street Journal story on "the 60-year career,” I talked about my 30 years of corporate work followed by 30 years of entrepreneurship.

I began by consulting with people about how to boost their careers through social media, especially LinkedIn. 

I started teaching, first undergrads at FIDM and then grad students at USC.

I began speaking to organizations about personal branding, executive presence, and leadership styles.

Then I looked at my calendar. People wanted to talk about their careers. How could they:
* lead organizational change? 
* handle imposter syndrome? 
* establish a leadership brand? 
* communicate more effectively?
* create a high-performing culture? 
* navigate career change and transition?
* and many other questions that came up.

That's when I also became an executive coach. 

So here's what I do today ...

With Fortune 100 executive experience in communications and marketing, I provide corporate communications consulting, executive coaching, and digital branding services to grow careers and companies. 

As a certified executive coach and an accredited public relations professional, I help my clients develop and communicate their leadership style, personal brand, and executive presence. I also work with them to navigate change, transformation, and reinvention, and to build inclusive and high-performing cultures. 

As a keynote speaker and an author, I share my insights and expertise on leadership, personal branding, and executive presence. As a lecturer of communication at USC, I teach graduate courses in digital media management and leadership.

Still buying more books than you finish?

There’s a name for that: tsundoku.

And yes, I’m guilty.
But I do read most of them.
Eventually.

Sundays are my reading day.
During the week, I wind down with pages from the ever-growing stack.

Where do my picks come from?
McKinsey’s annual book list.
Podcasts. Articles. Friends.
And far too many library impulse checkouts.

But one book stood out this year:
Co-Intelligence: Living and Working with AI, by Ethan Mollick.

“AI works, in many ways, as a co-intelligence,” he writes. 
“It augments, or potentially replaces, human thinking to dramatic results.”

As AI surged in 2025, Mollick's four principles became my north star:

1️⃣ Always invite AI to the table.
2️⃣ Be the human in the loop.
3️⃣ Treat AI like a person (but tell it what kind of person it is).
4️⃣ Assume this is the worst AI you will ever use.

Ever been told to work on your executive presence, without being told how?

It's one of the most misunderstood skills in leadership.

“Executive presence” could mean confidence. Communication. Courage. Calm. Appearance. Authenticity. Or all of it.

As an executive coach, my advice is simple:
Seek specifics.
Ask more than one person.
Then listen for the themes.

You might think it’s one thing, when really, it’s something else.

This fall, I returned to UCLA Anderson to co-facilitate an Executive Presence workshop with Tom Larsen.
 
Tom brings together his McKinsey experience, his coaching work, and his role leading UCLA’s Executive MBA Career & Leadership Development programs.

Together, we covered:
 – Gravitas
 – Communication
 – Appearance
 – Authenticity
 – Agility

And:
 – Confidence
 – Calm
 – Decisiveness
 – Preparation
 – Polish

We also heard great insights from the students. 

And one idea stands out for me:

Wherever you are and whoever you’re with: be present.
Give people your full attention.
Read the room. Adjust with intention.
