Giving back to my profession is important to me, and teaching is one way I can help shape and mentor the next generation of technology leaders. As an Instructor, I teach Information Technology and Health Informatics courses in FPU's MBA, MS and BS Programs. This requires me to stay on top of changes in my industry, as my students look to me to be a relevant subject matter expert. Although I teach them, they force me to evolve and look at issues from a different perspective, which helps me grow as a leader.

As CIO, I led the planning, management, support, and security of my organization's technology and information systems. I developed the organization's technology strategy and business goals collaboratively with our executive team. I then created the roadmap to meet those objectives, allowing the organization to grow in its mission of providing high-quality, affordable healthcare.

Upon joining the organization, I identified and anticipated end-user and patient complaints about our technology and processes. Subsequently, I led a refresh of the organization’s entire infrastructure and end-user computing environments. This effort achieved a gold-standard level of operational and cybersecurity excellence, and we successfully deployed telehealth, population health, and BYOD solutions across our six-state service area. 

To ensure project success, I implemented governance and standards and advocated using advanced data to drive business decisions and outcomes. As part of this effort, we collectively created a Business Intelligence program and introduced automation, dashboards, and predictive analytics to the organization.

As a customer-focused organization, we researched and developed a patient engagement initiative with enhanced communication capabilities and an interactive online module that automated our processes. These efforts reduced patient wait times, increased time-of-service payment collections, and improved patient and staff satisfaction.

Recognized by Computerworld as a Premier 100 Technology Leader, I also helped lead the deployment of the organization’s first mobile health app which won CIO Magazine’s “CIO 100” Award, acknowledging companies that have distinguished themselves through the innovative use of technology.

Lawrence + Memorial is a not-for-profit integrated healthcare system serving southeastern Connecticut and Westerly, Rhode Island. L+M is licensed for a combined 405 beds and provides patient care to medical, surgical, pediatric, rehab, psychiatric, and obstetrical patients. L+M's staff consists of over 3,500 professional, technical, and support personnel.

As Director of Information Technology, I led the strategic planning, management, and support of the organization's technology infrastructure and its sophisticated information systems.

St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital is a not-for-profit healthcare system serving New York's lower Hudson Valley. St. Luke's Cornwall is licensed for a combined 393 beds and provides patient care to medical, surgical, pediatric, rehab, and psychiatric patients. With a staff of over 1,500, the hospital is one of the largest employers in the region. 

As the Manager of Information Technology, I held CIO accountability and led the organization’s strategic vision as it pertained to technology and information systems. Other responsibilities included managing and overseeing the tactical and daily operational responsibilities of the department including full oversight of the capital and operating budgets, staff development, HIPAA compliance, IT governance, process improvement, risk management and vendor relations. Served as the organization's IT Security Officer.

Founded in 1992, Fluxis Tech was a pioneering application developer, notably introducing one of the healthcare industry's first medical transcription and dictation systems. - Assessing transactions and creating deal strategies. I work with business associates and internal stakeholders to understand the need, determine the risks, and craft a right-sized approach in light of risk and nature of the deal.

- Drafting and redlining contracts.  I ensure the right terms are in place for each contract given business needs and risk. 

I communicate with fellow associates, leadership, and third parties. I communicate with internal stakeholders including the line of business, legal, compliance and data security groups.

As an Operational Compliance Coordinator, I handled on-site execution of end-to-end complaint administration management for long term care insurance premium rate increase complaints. I researched and responded to written and oral rate action complaints and escalations. I also kept the Director of the Office of Consumer Affairs informed of any risk identified and consult with her regarding the handling of rate action complaints.

Operations Compliance Coordinator - Contractor

As a Project Attorney with UnitedLex, I provided litigation support for cases involving product liability litigation, Department of Justice requests, and federal Anti-Kickback Statute investigation. I  researched and reviewed over 30K+ documents for evidentiary relevance and legal privilege for pharmaceutical and healthcare class action lawsuits. I utilized my French language skills to perform French language document reviews. On a daily basis, I used a variety of software and databases to assess and review documents for responsiveness to requests from courts and opposing parties, attorney privilege, and business confidentiality.

New Start Career Coaching, LLC

At New Start Career Coaching LLC I coach professionals through career transitions and help them establish their own “personal career brand.” I show clients how to utilize branding techniques, social media strategies, and traditional career search methods to communicate their professional persona and elevate their careers. As a result of the organization’s success, I have been featured on Wellesley College’s Center of Work & Service’s website and wrote a featured post on Jean Chatzsky’s blog, Financial Editor for The Today Show.

While working with the Virginia Employment Commission (VEC), I conducted approximately 100 First Level Appeals administrative hearings per month and interviewed all parties and witnesses. The role included preparing hearing questions, researching relevant issues, and analyzing relevance of exhibits submitted for entry into the hearing’s official records. On a weekly basis, I drafted and issued between 25 and 35 written decisions to resolve appeals related to unemployment eligibility and benefit decisions.

MeadWestvaco (MWV)

I served as a Contract Attorney with MeadWestvaco analyzing and determining the terms and status of over 3K+ intellectual property agreements. This position included coordinating with 9 different business teams to discuss the status of outstanding agreements and producing relevant quarterly reports. In addition, I overhauled the contract management database by updating records that were 3+ years out-of-date. As a result of my leadership in the role, my 2-month contract assignment was extended to a 20-month contract.

LexisNexis

While a Legal Analyst at LexisNexis, I achieved several accomplishments, including spearheading a project that increased the scope of Pennsylvania’s historical citations by 85%. I conducted a SWOT analysis to evaluate the company against its main competitor, Westlaw, and identified a key weakness in their product: historical citations only dating back to 1972 vs. Westlaw’s citations dating back to the 1700s. 

I also created a process for using legislative books to track a piece of legislation from the time it was made into law and through any amendments made. During my time with LexisNexis, I further developed my skills in analysis and research while providing a significant contribution to the organization.
