I didn’t start with a degree in marketing or a big-shot agency job. I started with a simple curiosity: Can I really build a business online?

Back in 2020, during the peak of COVID, I was just trying to figure things out. So I taught myself everything I could, from building websites & writing copy to video editing, designing, and running ads. 

I began by taking on small freelance projects like content, ads, and landing pages just to get some hands-on experience. With every project, I learned something new and built up my confidence bit by bit.

Swati, I have big goals but I don’t have people who support me.

They always criticize me and force me to settle for less. It broke my confidence, and somewhere deep down, I started believing they were right. I’m not enjoying my life fully because I know I’m meant to do something bigger.

I don’t know if you’ve ever faced this, but convincing parents to take protein is hard.

When I started my fitness journey, I used to take protein shakes regularly. But the moment I suggested the same to my parents, their reactions were like “Humein ye sab nahi chahiye”, “Ye gym wale logon ke liye hota hai”, or the classic, “Natural khaana hi best hai”.

I knew they needed protein, not for building muscles, but to maintain them. After 40, our body naturally starts losing muscle mass, and that’s one of the biggest reasons for weakness and low energy.

Swati, I’ve been creating on LinkedIn for 6 months but I’m still stuck at 200 connections and 300 followers. What mistakes am I making?

That’s exactly what someone asked me during a “Boost Your LinkedIn Presence” consulting call he booked on Topmate.

Before the session, I audited his profile and noted a few things that were slowing down his growth. His account had:

❌ No banner

❌ A long, hard-to-read “About” section

❌ No clear or engaging bio

❌ No posting schedule and completely random content

These may sound like small details, but they make a big difference. Most people overlook them and that’s where their growth gets stuck.

During the call, I helped him:

I used to be a kid who always followed the rules, did whatever my teachers said, took everything personally, and hurt my own self-esteem.

So here’s a small advice to my younger self this Children’s Day ➡️ 

it’s okay to follow your heart instead of the rules sometimes. It’s okay to do things that matter to you, not to others. It’s okay to avoid things for your peace. And it’s okay to choose what boosts your self-esteem.

I used to think personality was something you’re born with until I realized it’s something you build every day.

Here are 5 ways that helped me improve mine (and they might help you too):

1. I started observing more than I spoke.

I realized that people who truly listen often leave a deeper impact than those who rush to respond. Observation helped me understand people better and respond with empathy instead of ego.

2. I worked on being consistent with my words and actions.

Confidence isn’t about speaking loudly, it’s about being reliable. When people can trust what you say and see it match your behavior, your personality naturally stands out.

3. I stopped seeking validation for every decision.

The moment I started doing things because I believed in them, not because others approved, my self-respect grew and so did my presence.

4.I learned to stay calm under pressure.

Your reaction in chaos says more about you than your success in peace. Building emotional stability made me more grounded and approachable.

5. I invested in continuous learning.

Whether it’s reading, traveling, or having meaningful conversations — learning keeps you curious, humble, and interesting. Growth is the best outfit your personality can wear.

Remember: your personality isn’t a mask, it’s a mirror of your self-awareness. 

The more you understand yourself, the more naturally confident you become.

I used to believe being disciplined meant:

• Working hard non-stop
• No breaks, no fun
• Sacrificing everything for goals
• Thinking life is only about productivity

And for a while, I did that.

But here’s the reality — that version of “discipline” leads to burnout, resentment, and losing the joy of life.

You don’t become better. You become exhausted.
And that exhaustion wipes away months of effort in just a few days.

Here’s what I’ve learned ➡️ real discipline is different.

Real discipline looks like:

- Doing what matters consistently, not endlessly

- Resting before your mind and body forces you to

-  Saying NO to things that drain you

-  Making space for joy so your motivation stays alive

📌 Discipline is not about punishing yourself.
It’s about building a life you don’t need to escape from.
