Ruth Thomson is a coach, mentor and trainer helping people create lives filled with meaningful work, family and freedom. She has an eclectic professional background, from innovation in data science to growing brands with digital marketing campaigns to creating and delivering highly-rated digital training. 

Over the last 18 years, she has had the pleasure of raising millions of pounds for charities, building and leading successful teams, building strategic partnerships between high profile organisations and and grown a digital marketing business and a coaching business. 

She has worked for or with clients at: AstraZeneca, Lloyds Bank, Accenture, Google, Johnson & Johnson, Virgin, BT, Vodafone, the House of Commons, Co-op Food and more. 

She is an accredited coach at Senior Practitioner level with the European Mentoring and Coaching Council, one of the three leading coach accreditation bodies. As a lover of learning, she has studied with other leaders on executive education courses at MIT, Cambridge University and Harvard University. Most recently securing a distinction in the psychology of happiness and wellbeing (PGCert) at UEL in order to bring the most cutting edge psychology research and practice to her clients.

Project manager for a portfolio of projects concerning optimization, digitalization and business development.

Manager of a team in the production consisting of 25 people.

Manager - Team Leader

Managed two optimization projects at the cheese production site in Nr. Vium, Denmark. One of the projects concerned moving the slicing of cheese from Götene to Nr. Vium and the other project concerned reducing pH variations in the cheese making process.

Worked as a project manager as a part of a two-year graduate programme with rotations in the home country and abroad. Throughout the programme there was a focus on career development, leadership and getting a broad understanding of Arla Foods as a company.

Close collaboration with the global team of Production Optimisation. Data collection, Statistical Process Control and utilizing data through the use of Power BI were some areas in focus.

Atterbo AB

Co-founder of Atterbo AB, which is a start-up real estate company focused on the mediation of real estate between landowners and real estate developers. Atterbo AB does all the work required for transforming a landowner's raw land into a state where houses can be built at the property. The property is then presented to real estate developers. In this way, by refining the land, a landowner can get a higher price for the property than if the property would be sold directly at the market via a real estate agent.

Atterbo AB also sells tiny houses (attefallshus) and provides advice to property owners on how to optimise the capital gains and rental incomes of their properties.

Managed a project for rebuilding parts of the factory to connect logistic flows with robot cells and a new line. Led four co-workers to accomplish the tasks in the project. In the project we redesigned seven operators’ daily work tasks and designed four additional positions. The project also concerned shop factory layout, design of material flows and contracting of new equipment.

Cross-functional work involving interaction and co-working with technicians, engineers, operators and suppliers.

Co-founder of a start-up that combines a payment system free from transaction fees with a member club. Members get discounts and special offers in various stores. The start-up also has a group with 115,000 members for buying and selling products in Stockholm where advertising and annual membership fees generate revenues.

GLOBUX

Started and ran a business for selling, recycling, upgrading, and repairing PCs, laptops, and smartphones. Re-use of components and sustainability at the core of the business idea. Varying work with assembling, logistics, marketing, purchasing and sales.

KeyCase

Development of a pocket knife-like keyholder, with five others. Designed the later versions of the product. The design won 1st prize at a fair with more than 1,000 young entrepreneurs and the start-up thus qualified to the Swedish Championship in Young Entrepreneurship. The start-up won 2nd prize for product realization. At a regional fair, the start-up received “The Best Venture of the Year”-award.

Extracted, interpreted and analyzed production data in a one-semester project (as student). Analysis in Excel, with 500,000 cells of data, suggested strong economic gains from increased batch sizes at two production lines.

Change management project to increase innovation and value-adding activities at a department of Nordea. In a one-semester project as student.
