In May 2022, my life changed.

Up until that point, I had spent over 20 years as a serial entrepreneur, founding multiple companies and becoming globally recognized for my expertise in direct marketing, copywriting, compliant marketing, and now, investing in AI & Martech SaaS.

In 2022, my company, Lurn, was on track to hit $40 million/year, and I was preparing to sell it—ready to step back, spend more time with my kids, and move on to my next chapter.

Most people don’t choose the wrong line intentionally.
They drift into it.

Because negativity spreads faster.

Criticism takes less courage.
And helping requires effort and ownership.

That’s why the right lines are short.

Helping takes energy.
Encouragement takes presence.
Getting involved takes responsibility.

In the long run, your life is shaped by the line you stand in.

So pause before you join the crowd.

Brutal truth: Discipline isn’t about showing up at 100%.

Most people get it wrong.

They think discipline means:
Perfect energy.
Perfect motivation.
Perfect consistency.

Real life doesn’t work that way.

Years of working with high performers taught me this:

Discipline is showing up even when you don’t feel like it.

Look at a real week:

Monday: 100%
Tuesday: 80%
Wednesday: 5%
Thursday: 20%
Friday: 70%
Saturday: 90%
Sunday: 10%

That’s not failure.
That’s being human.

The mistake?
Waiting for motivation to return.

Because progress is built on days when you feel:

➟ Unmotivated
➟ Doubtful

Those are the days that actually matter.

I learned this the hard way.

I used to quit on low-energy days.
I told myself, “I’ll restart when I feel better.”

Nothing changed.

So I flipped the rule:

✓ 10% effort still counts
✓ Consistency beats intensity
✓ Showing up beats feeling ready

The result?

Momentum replaced motivation.
Confidence replaced excuses.
