I’ve been watching people for years. The patterns are wild.

But chasing money at the expense of them usually destroys the very life you’re trying to build.

Slow down.
You’re closer than you think.

I waited longer than I should have.

Not because I didn’t have ideas.
Not because I wasn’t capable.

Because I kept telling myself I needed:
More clarity.

I thought I needed a better plan.

I didn’t.

Start sooner than you feel comfortable.

The most valuable skill isn’t productivity.

It’s knowing what matters.

Anyone can work harder.
Anyone can move faster.

That’s not the edge.

The edge is knowing what not to do.

Because efficiency on the wrong things is still wasted energy.

I see this constantly.

People obsess over:

But they’re applying them to work that doesn’t matter.

So they feel busy.
They feel exhausted.
And they wonder why nothing compounds.

Real leverage comes from clarity.

Knowing:
• Which decisions actually move the needle
• Which problems are worth solving
• Which work creates momentum instead of maintenance

Most professionals don’t need better systems.

They need better filters.

Once you know what matters, productivity becomes obvious.
Until then, it’s just motion.

This is what happens when you learn something new. 

It’s 6:25 am. I am sitting in my green chair.

I get my phone out of my pocket and put it in front of my face.  It tells me that it can't recognize my face, so I type in my pass code. The home screen is full of apps, and I take a second to find the app I want to open. 

It’s the Kindle app.  It opens to page 263 of 481. I am about 57% done. 

The book I am reading is called Very Good Copy, by Eddy Shleyner. It’s about copywriting. Copywriting is the discipline of writing ads, advertisements, and website content to sell products. 

The chapter I am about to read is called Writing Immersive Stories.  It begins with a story about a hospital visit. Eddie talks about his experience just before and right after surgery. He then breaks down a technique for writing stories called “realism.” 

He offers two more examples. I read them. I can’t stop. The technique is so effective that my mind won’t let me put my phone down. 

I finish the chapter, and I feel empowered. Inspired.  Excited.  I learned something new today.

Learning something will make you feel that way, excited, empowered. But that is not the end of it. When you apply what you learn and get results, the feelings of success and accomplishment can often overwhelm you and send you jumping up and down like a little kid. 

The key is to apply the learning.  And over the years, that’s what I’ve done. 

When I learned communication and writing, I:

When I learned product management, I:

Every goal is easier to attain when you work together to achieve it. 

When you have a common purpose: 

➟ You will go further
➟ You will get there sooner
➟ You will gain stronger victories

🔥 Together, yes we can.

2️⃣ We don’t give up
It’s easy to give up when times are tough. But we don’t give up. We get up.

When times are tough: 

➟ You can feel down, but not out
➟ You can feel lost, but not hopeless
➟ You can feel stuck, but not immobile

🔥 Look up. Get up. Move up.  

”Where you are right now doesn't have to determine where you'll end up.”

3️⃣ We succeed when we fail and learn
We will make mistakes, but when we learn from mistakes, we win.

When you try, fail and learn:

➟ You can beat the toughest odds
➟ You can achieve the hardest goals
➟ You can bring your future into reality

🔥 You fail only when you don’t learn.

“You can’t let your failures define you. You have to let your failures teach you.”

4️⃣ We are the change that we seek
The only thing you can control is your actions and your thoughts. 

When you take control of yourself: 

➟ You will experience less stress
➟ You will make progress on your goals
➟ You will increase your chances of success

🔥 You are in control. Take charge.

 

“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.”

5️⃣ We have more to do
There is always more work to do to make your dreams become a reality.

When you reach for the stars:

➟ You might not get there
➟ You might not get close enough
➟ You might not get everything you want

🔥 But if you try, you will have lived a life worth living.
