My manager always found small things to reproach me for.
Always something.

In meetings, they’d cut me off mid-sentence.

The frustration ate me alive.

I'd go home exhausted.

I used to panic around people who intimidated me.

Not knowing what to say.

The higher I rose, the more I noticed something.

The way you treat people echoes longer than your results.

I used to think reputation was about performance.

Hit the goals. 
Impress the right people. 
Keep moving forward.

The moment you took credit for their work.
The time you dismissed them in a meeting.

I needed all the information before making a decision.

So I didn't make a lot of decisions.

And decisions are how you change your life.

Here is a story that recently opened my eyes.
(shared by Sahil Bloom in his book)

A man gets struck by a poisoned arrow.

A doctor rushes over to remove it.
But the man stops him.

"Wait. Who shot me? 
What town does he come from? 
Was it a crossbow or a longbow?"
What kind of wood was his bow made from?”

While he asks these questions, the poison spreads.
And he dies.

Here's what hit me about this story:

We all get struck by "poisoned arrows."

↳ Bad news at work.
↳ Relationship problems.
↳ Financial setbacks.

And what do we do?

We overthink the hell out of them.

We want to know why it happened.
Every single detail that led to this moment.
Who's to blame.

But here's the truth I wish someone had told me earlier:
Ruminating on the nature of those arrows won't save you.

We think we need more information to solve our problems.
When what we really need is more action.

This trap is everywhere now.

Information feels infinite.
We get dopamine hits from research.
From endless planning sessions.

The danger?

That dopamine convinces you information alone is enough.
That knowing more equals doing more.

But it doesn't.

Information without action is just sophisticated procrastination.

Back to our guy with the arrow:

He feels smart learning about his attacker.
↳ Lives in the nearby village
↳ Bow made of oak wood
↳ Definitely used a longbow

But he's still dead.

Because the information he wanted became a distraction from the action he needed.

Never let information-gathering replace action-taking.

Next time you catch yourself overthinking, ask:

"Do I really need more information, or do I just need to act on what I already know?"

Feedback isn’t a confrontation.

↳ Then name the problem, clearly, objectively.

💡 “Let’s aim for tighter timing next round.”

2️⃣ Use the SBI Model: Situation → Behavior → Impact
↳ Be specific and avoid generalizations. 
↳ Describe what you saw to anchor the feedback in context.

💬 “During yesterday’s briefing, I noticed you checked your phone often.”
