Here's the thing. Usually, these LinkedIn about sections on people's profiles read like a grocery list than an actual biography. Can we change that? Let me give it a go. 

Hi! I'm Jaina. And welcome to my LinkedIn profile page. Who knows how you got here, and while I won't say I'm glad you're here, I'm hoping I can make you stick around and read this entire thing. 

You may know my face from my time at Litmus, where I started out as a wee email marketing specialist and left (nearly 9 years later) as the leader for brand and content marketing.

WHAT A JOURNEY. 

But wait, what happened before I joined Litmus in June, 2016? 

Short version: Graduated with a BSc in Computer Science hoping to enter the world of "IT Consultancy" (whatever that means), got bored, tried software programming and sucked at it, so "fell back" on my experience designing and building fansites as a teenager and joined the workforce as a web designer/developer—who just happened to do email, too. Spent some years honing my experience in email design and development before landing a role at Litmus. 

Back to the journey that led me to where I am now. 

I thought I'd be an email marketer forever. It was the perfect combination of design, development, UX, testing/learning, analysis, ops, data wrangling, content, copywriting... everything. But experiencing all of this just led me to realise the world of marketing is huge. Email just gave me the opportunity to use what I've learned and take my career to new places. 

New places included building team(s). And then managing said team(s). Which is easy when the team you've built are a bunch of talented, driven, and remarkable individuals. Honestly, leading a team is one of the most fulfilling parts of my career. 

It also meant diving head first into areas of marketing where I didn't have decades of experience in, including content and brand marketing. Which led me to believing, whatever area of marketing you own, a lot of it comes down to the same thing: the best marketing makes people feel something. It's a combination of data-driven and gut-led. It sparks emotion and connects on a personal level. 

And now here I am. Taking my experience and skills on the road as an independant marketing consultant. Here to help you navigate email woes and content dilemmas. 

Wait, it wouldn't be a LinkedIn profile bio if I didn't mention some things I'm most proud of: creating newsletter programs that improved YoY pipeline by over 150%, generated over $1M in pipeline through content marketing, and renovated a home with my husband without losing my mind.
