Sweat is running down your face. And your back.

"Boarding complete."

Legs are burning. It isn't even leg day.

You were supposed to have a two hour layover.

Plenty of time to grab a chunky strawberry bowl from Jamba.

But your departure was delayed, leaving you with six minutes.

Six minutes to get from L1A to H15.

So you ran.

Hard.

Like the 1600M conference championship in '98.

And now you're struggling to breathe.

Not what you used to be.   

And you're not getting to San Diego any time soon.

Much less Fresno. 

You're about to talk to customer care. 

You'll be disconnected twice.

They'll tell you the next available flight isn't until 6PM.

You'll look at your phone. 

It's 11:35AM.

You didn't sleep well last night. Only four hours.

There's a lot on your mind.

Now there's even more.

Fast forward ten hours.

You've landed in San Diego.

It's 9:00PM.

Your body's on EST. So it's actually midnight.

Been awake for 20 hours.

Rebooked on a different airline to catch the last flight to Fresno. 

The gate agent scolds you for not checking in.

The app wouldn't let you check-in.

You manage a half smile. They've had a long day, too.

Fast forward ninety minutes.

Congratulations.

You're in Fresno.

But your luggage is not.

God Almighty alone knows its location. 

You shouldn't have checked a bag.

But the Christmas presents wouldn't fit in your carry-on.

And now they're gone.

You don't care.

You just need your rental car.

And sleep. 

You've been awake for twenty-three hours.

You walk to the Tesla. 

It won't unlock.

You were given the wong key card.

Fast forward 90 minutes. 

You open your hotel room door.

Collapse on the bed.

It's cold.

Like really cold 

Thermostat says fifty-four degrees.

You try to adjust.

Nope.

Heat not working.

You don't care.

Sleep for four and a half hours.

Now wide awake.

It's 5AM. Your body thinks it's 8AM.

So you write this post.

A few thoughts:

1️⃣ Property insurance premiums are indeed at record highs in most regions of the country. This is well-documented and we're all feeling it.

Guess what else has gotten significantly more expensive over the past 6 years?

Just about everything.

When the cost of doing business goes ⬆️, prudent business owners raise their prices. 

We're seeing that happen across the country with insurance.

The opposite is also true. And we're beginning to see some of that as well. That's good news. 🙌

2️⃣ The assertion that property insurers are "denying nearly half of all claims" is heavily nuanced.

Makes for a great soundbyte to enrage the viewer, but it's severely lacking in context and reality.

When you plant the idea in people's minds that insurance coverage for a claim is an ambiguous 50/50 gamble, you're doing a disservice to your audience. 🫤

This was interesting.......👀🤔😬 

Last week a 2-hour PBD podcast episode dropped with billionaire attorney John Morgan as the guest.

I listened to the full episode. 

This was the most interesting segment.

For some reason, Mr. Morgan never actually articulates what's coming in Florida post-tort reform.

He alludes to it three times in two minutes.....

"Nobody's gonna understand until it happens....."

"We will rewind this tape one day when there's a massive hurricane....."

"I think it's (tort reform) disastrous, and I think that one day......."

I was waiting on the edge of my seat for the big reveal of his prediction on what will happen.

But it never came. 😅

Instead he pivoted to a conversation on medical malpractice.

I do know two things that are happening in Florida post tort-reform.

1. Attorneys are no longer getting rich off property damage. 
2. Premiums are beginning to drop.

Those two are linked together. 

And that's good news for everyone........except Mr. Morgan and the plaintiff's bar. 😬🙏
