50–60 LPA SDE offers don’t go to the person
who solved the most LeetCode questions.

It’s the part nobody talks about.

In real interviews, nobody is counting your LeetCode streak. 

The gap between 12–20 LPA and 50–60 LPA isn’t intelligence.
It’s engineering maturity.

At higher salary bands, coding is assumed.
What’s tested is:
Constraint handling
API and DB decisions
Scaling awareness
Failure thinking
Clear communication

And now — AI fluency matters too.
Almost every serious product company is moving toward AI-first systems. LLM-powered features. RAG pipelines. AI copilots are layered into products—internal tooling driven by embeddings.

You do need to understand how these components affect backend design, latency, cost, reliability, and system architecture.

There are 35 chances on the table right now for SDE 1s with strong DSA.
Google, Amazon, Meta, Adobe, Goldman, Morgan Stanley, all paying 15–20 LPA plus.

Almost everyone loses their offer at the same place, the first 45-minute DSA round.
Most people get stuck at that place because they:

- Study topics like a syllabus instead of patterns they can recall
- Keep switching sheets & do random preparation
- Never sit through a full 45-minute mock round
- Panic the moment the question looks slightly different from what they practiced

I have switched twice & have almost 5 YOE, 
Here is the strategy that has helped me crack SDE & Sr. SDE roles at Amazon, Microsoft, etc.

For Senior SDE prep:
🔹 1–1.5 hrs/day on weekdays, 4–5 hrs on weekends
🔹 70% System Design + 30% DSA
🔹 Maintain thought logs, clarity > speed

For SDE- 1/ 2 prep:
🔹 2 hrs/day on weekdays, 5–6 hrs on weekends
🔹 5 problems daily, 2 easy, 2 medium, 1 hard
🔹 75% System Design + 25% DSA

Besides these topics, I also practiced CS fundamentals, updated my resume multiple times, and gave 1-2 mock interviews every week.

At that time, my biggest struggle was finding resources and that’s why I ended up wasting a lot of time. But you don’t have to.

I switched after spending 4 yrs at 2 diff tech giants & applied for a Senior role at Uber (70+ LPA)!

Sharing my entire interview experience below 👇
 
💠 Round 1: DSA Round (Elimination)
→ 3 questions, 2 on Dynamic Programming and 1 on DFS. It was time-bound and tough, but I cleared this round.

💠 Round 2: DSA + Follow-ups
→ Focused on a BFS problem with layered follow-up questions. I couldn’t solve the second expected problem due to time constraints. 
(I suspected that this was where things fell short.)

💠 Round 3: Design Round
→ I was asked to implement an In-Memory Twitter system with several follow-ups on design, edge cases, and extensions. A true test of system thinking and communication under pressure.

❌ Final result: Rejection.

It didn’t work out, and the rejection hurt a lot, especially since I cleared some really tough rounds.

But the clarity I gained about Uber’s expectations at the SDE-2 level was invaluable.

Whether or not you make it to the offer, top PBCs interviews are a mirror to your prep depth, especially for more advanced leadership roles.

Google SDE 1: 3 DSA rounds. Avg offer around 25–35 LPA.
Microsoft SDE 1: 2–3 DSA rounds. Avg offer around 25–30 LPA.
Amazon SDE 1: 2 DSA rounds. Avg offer around 20–25 LPA.

99% of candidates can find this with one Google search. They still get rejected in round 1 because they never practice for the 45-minute clock in the DSA round.
