- My PhD research proposes a Context-Aware Recommender System (CARS) of video contents about public and social services tailored for the Portuguese elderly, for later exhibition on an Interactive TV (iTV) platform. 
- Developed a Context-Aware Recommender System using Python Scikit-learn, Django web framework and MySQL DB. This software was developed in the context of the +TV4E project (http://tv4e.web.ua.pt/) and a fully functional version was tested with a sample of 21 seniors in a domestic environment. The source code can be found at my github (davidcampelo, see below).
- Gave talks about the thesis progress in the AMC TVX 2017 (Hilversum, Netherlands) and CIST 2017 (Lisbon, Portugal)

- Gave contributions to some Java Specifications (e.g. JavaDTV, CLDC8) and Brazilian DTV standards
- Implemented Java and C/C++ embedded software APIs of Ginga middleware (Brazilian DTV Standard)
- Integrated JavaVM stack to different TV platforms
- Led teams ranging from 2 to 8 people (developers, designers, testers), sometimes working with geographically separated teams (USA, China, Taiwan, Japan, etc.), accountable for making things happen
- Followed all the porting process along with TV manufacturers from the initial know-how transfer to delivery and mass production
- Profiled and optimized Java code
- Ported Ginga Middleware to ARM and MIPS platforms.
- Responsible for project interfacing and software integration process – from initial assessment and know-how transfer to delivery and mass production of different TV brands and models
- Member of Ginga-J technical commission for JavaDTV specification in partnership with Oracle.
- Effective member of Brazilian DTV Forum Technical Module writing Ginga-J Standard and JavaDTV.
- Designed and implemented internal Configuration Management system using cmake/makefiles/shell scripts.

I have 15+ years of experience in ICT, working on reputable companies as experienced leader, developer and researcher. I'm passionate for innovative technologies, especially when it comes to smart solutions to enhance life quality and wellbeing.  

For many years I worked with Java/C++ technologies for mobile and embedded devices in the Interactive TV context. During my Ph.D I worked with Python technologies for data science and machine learning to design and develop a Context-Aware Recommender System of video contents which were tested in real-life context, in 21 homes, with support of +TV4E project. In addition, due to good technical and communication skills I’ve been invited for giving talks in many events about Second Screen technologies, Interactive TV and Brazilian DTV Standard, such as the International DTV Forums and the Oracle’s renowned JavaOne. 

Currently I'm enjoying leading a team working with embedded Linux at Bosch Security Systems, where I can deep dive into more C++, Python and bash scripting programming as well as discover the exciting possibilities of using Yocto Project.
