OnBoard Programme

I was selected for one of 12 places to participate in the third cohort of the Onboard Programme.

OnBoard is a not-for-profit organisation set up to broaden the diversity of backgrounds and experience on all types of boards by skilling up and enabling talented individuals who are currently less likely to take on board roles. OnBoard works with individuals in the first ten years of their professional careers.

The programme includes
- Workshops on essential board topics, including the role of the board, legal and regulatory obligations, finance and strategy for board members
- Workshops on the board journey, including identifying individual strengths to bring to a board and the recruitment and application process
- Mentoring from an experienced recruiter
- Mentoring from an established board member

•Supporting the community matron in managing and maintaining a caseload of 50 -100 patients with long term conditions 
•Dealing with referrals both in coming and out going to ensure that patients get the services they require to ensure they remain in good health and wellbeing 
•Providing Prompt and timely intervention for patients on the Ward to keep them from tipping back into hospital with a view to saving the NHS about £780 000 pounds annually

Associate Lecturer/Seminar Leader

I am a Social Scientist and Teacher with over 13 years of experience in health research and community development approaches to improving population health and well-being and reducing inequalities. 

I am a senior lecturer at the University of West England, leading on the core Public Health Leadership and Management for our BSc apprenticeship and the Public Health Leadership MSc modules at UWE and Hainan, China. 

Previously, I led as Impact and Evaluation Manager of Access and Participation (Widening participation projects) at the University of East London (UEL), supporting 45 projects to improve strategies and deliver successful evaluations. This evaluation enabled UEL's Career and Student Enterprise to monitor the impact and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the design and delivery of the Scheme. The Scheme later won the NEON (National Education Opportunities Network) Widening Access Initiative (Retention and Progression) Award, highlighting outstanding contributions to widening access and participation in higher education. Also, the Coaching for Success in Psychology programme won the Pearson HE Innovate Award for the Most Innovative Approach to Supporting Students in 2021, based on our contribution to the design of the programme. 

At IHHD, my research focused on community and system-wide approaches to improving health and well-being, including the award-winning 'Well Communities' programme, which has shaped national policies like those conducted for the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence and Public Health England. 

My experience in UK HE spans eight years at UG and PG levels. My teaching pedagogy combines technology and creative and evidence-based strategies to deliver blended learning approaches to equip students with the knowledge and skills for real-time employability. I mostly employ a problem-based learning technique to facilitate and encourage communication development, collaborative teamwork, problem-solving and self-directed learning.

My PhD thesis, "The Impact of Participatory Budgeting (PB) on Health and Wellbeing: A Qualitative Case Study of a Deprived Community in London", explored the processes through which the PB approach was applied in the Well London programme, a multi-component intervention operates to improve individual and community health and wellbeing.
