Here’s the process I developed: 

- Understanding the Employee Value Proposition (EVP)
- Promoting the EVP via influencers/content creators 
- Hosting recruitment events at key hiring locations
- Capturing Employee Generated Content (EGC)
- Distributing the EGC on social media 

The results so far: 

- 104 candidates hired to date
- 95.6% staff retention rate on hires 
- 98.5% of candidates hired are diverse
- Over 16 million candidates reached online 
- £131,000 saved on recruitment related cost

Because no one wants to book a coffee chat with: 

• A random person online.
• The Intern they don't know.
• Someone with no clear value to offer.
  
My LinkedIn DMs:

”Hey, I just graduated in (insert degree) and I'd love to chat to you about (xyz topic unrelated to me)”

You graduated. Well done.
Interested in xyz. That's nice.

What does that do for me?

A different approach:

"Hey Stephen, (compliment on profile). I have a few ideas on (topic related to me) that can potentially support your day-to-day. Would you be open to jumping on a brief call?"

Small small glaze. 
Offering to help me. 
Now you've got my attention!

An example of what this looks like in practice:

When I was working in Consulting, I was thinking of moving into Sales.

However, I had no interaction with the Sales team, so it was hard to strike up a conversation.

But then I figured, if I convinced my clients to spend more money...

That would make their job easier with more commission to hit their targets.

And that was my way in!

I upsold £125k worth of services to my client portfolio.

This wasn't in my job description at all.

But I did it as an excuse to interact with the Sales team and ask them questions about their work to figure out my next career move.

Networking should be a two-way street.

If you see networking as a mutual value exchange.

You are more likely to build meaningful relationships quicker.
