Led drafting and ensured adherence to Data Sharing Agreements, resulting in increased compliance with terms by Informatics department and streamlining of process.

Managed relationship with external stakeholders with respect to privacy and access, including IPC, Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, ICES, CIHI, POGO, hospitals, and other data partners.

Strengthened governance and accountability by establishing a Privacy Risk and Compliance managerial function, establishing privacy governance bodies across the organisation, and developing performance reporting for both privacy services as well as privacy office performance.

I'm an entrepreneur first and a lawyer second - which allows me to tackle legal issues by putting myself in your shoes.

Let's be honest - lawyers have a bad reputation, and I can't blame people for feeling that way. We're prone to overcharging, being unable to provide definitive answers to questions, and providing a customer experience that's far from ideal.

That's never sat well with me.

It's pretty straightforward. I ask questions to understand your problem and your goals, and then we work through how to get you from Point A to Point B in a way that works for your budget, timeline, and risk tolerance.

The result is a lot of happy clients, referrals from clients and other lawyers, and a reputation for delivering practical, responsive, and cost-effective legal advice.

I'm certainly not afraid of fixed fees/giving quotes. After all, I wouldn't want to pay for any service where the bill would be a complete mystery at the end.

I am not honoured, humbled, or “thrilled to announce.”

I am, however, speaking at the Future of Law Summit on November 20. 

These days, I turn down 95% of unpaid speaking engagements, because I have way too much on the go already.

But I like the fact that Goodlawyer is one of the few groups actually trying to make the legal profession better for clients and lawyers instead of endlessly talking about it.

And they promised me that signing up to speak doesn't require me to post selfies that are unrelated to my LinkedIn posts, which was my biggest concern at first :)

I'll be speaking with Pauline Chan, Angela Jackson, and Kristin Taylor about the generational gaps in the profession.

This is a topic I've become very passionate about lately, since it is one of the biggest challenges currently facing the profession (it is a major root cause of so many problems that is not getting enough attention).

And as someone who runs a law firm that is primarily Millennials and Gen Zs (but of course has Gen X and older colleagues), we are definitely doing things differently in ways that a lot of firms are going to want to emulate if they want to keep more junior lawyers happy!
