The real competition inside IIT nobody talks about


When I entered IIT, I thought the competition was about marks, CGPA, internships, and packages.

But after a few months I realised…
Almost everyone there was already good at studies.

So, marks stopped being the real game.

The real competition quietly shifted to things nobody prepares you for:
~ Who can talk clearly in a room full of smart people?
~ Who can lead a team when opinions clash?
~ Who can convince others without authority?
~ Who can handle rejection without losing confidence?

I had only trained one muscle till then - academics.
Inside IIT, I discovered that life needs a full-body workout.

So I started giving interviews for clubs, fests, and debates.
I failed many but cleared a few.

But every attempt built confidence that I never got from the classrooms.

Later in business, those skills mattered more than any formula I memorised.
In the real world, knowledge gets you a seat.

Communication and courage decide how long you keep it.

The personality gap I discovered after entering IIT INDORE


When I entered IIT, I thought I had already won
- good rank
- strong academics
- confidence at peak

But within a few weeks, something changed
- everyone around me was smart.
- everyone had topped somewhere.

Suddenly, being GOOD AT STUDIES was normal, and that’s when I saw the gap

Not in intelligence, but in personality

Some people could speak clearly in a room full of toppers
Some could lead to fests
Some could pitch ideas confidently
Some could handle rejection like it was nothing

I realised I had trained only one muscle - academics, but life inside IIT required communication, leadership, confidence, and exposure

That gap was uncomfortable, but it was necessary

So I started giving interviews for clubs, joined activities I was bad at

Spoke even when I felt underconfident

Looking back, IIT didn’t humble me because of marks
It humbled me because it showed me what I lacked, and that personality gap became my biggest growth area

But let me tell you what that actually feels like.

It doesn’t feel like SUCCESS, it feels like RESPONSIBILITY 

Every month when revenue hits, people think - sorted life.

But,
I think about:

– 20+ creators depending on our systems
– A young team working late nights
– Clients trusting us with their brand
– Salaries that must be paid on time

Earlier, when we were at ₹1 lakh/month, the risk felt scary.

Now at 8 figures, risk feels heavier.

Because it’s not just my risk anymore.

It’s team ka risk, it’s reputation ka risk.

Content marketing at scale is not about viral ideas.

It’s about showing up every single week without breaking trust/ burning out 

And the biggest shift is -

When you grow, your ego has to shrink, and discipline has to grow.

Revenue is exciting, but sustaining it… that’s the real game.

And honestly, that’s what I’m still learning every day.

The biggest risk you can take in college is playing safe.

Sounds strange, right?
But I realised this during my time at IIT

In college, the cost of failure is almost zero
You try something
It doesn’t work
Life moves on

You start a project - it fails
You apply for a club - you get rejected
You try building something - nobody cares

But once college ends, the same failures become heavier because now there are responsibilities

Bills, expectations, and less room to experiment

I remember applying to multiple clubs in college and getting rejected in some of them, at that time, it felt bad, but looking back, those small failures taught me something important: how to handle rejection without losing confidence

That skill helped much more later while building a business

And remember,
College is the only phase where you can experiment without permanent consequences

Yet most students do the opposite
- They play safe
- Focus only on marks
- Avoid trying new things

And miss the biggest advantage college gives them
Fail when the cost is low

So you can win when the stakes are high
