The Utrecht University Centre for Entrepreneurship (UtrechtCE) is constantly trying to nurture the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem of the university. In order to get real insights from the startup scene, we have invited entrepreneur Samir Saberi as Writer in Residence. His writings will cover the Dutch entrepreneurial ecosystem, bridging the worlds of entrepreneurs, academics and public policy.

During his time as Writer in Residence at UtrechtCE, Samir will collaborate closely with Erik Stam, Head of the Utrecht University School of Economics & Full Professor of Strategy, Organization and Entrepreneurship, to write a new book on Entrepreneurial Ecosystems. Samir Saberi will also work alongside other scholars from the centre to cover topics of interest for the Dutch startup ecosystem.

The Dutch SME top 100 Award is charted by the Dutch Chamber of Commerce. I am once again asked to judge the most innovative Dutch SME's as an Innovation Expert Jury Member. This annual innovation contest is seen as one of the most effective ways for SME’s to showcase their innovation, find partners, investors, customers and recognition. Techleap is an initiative of the the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs to promote the Dutch startup ecosystem. I have been an advisor on the Dutch startup ecosystem to Neelie Kroes as the first Special Envoy for startups and Techleap's first Director, Sigrid Johanisse.

Hi, I am Samir Saberi

My mission in life is to clear the path for people. 

I do this by helping people and organisations to create the right environment for good decision making. 

As an advisor, mentor, consultant and former executive I have learned that our ability to facilitate good decisions is the biggest lever we have to improve the effectiveness of our teams and organizations.

My aim is to help others do the same. Get better at the most elemental and high impact level: decision making.

I also believe that better strategies, innovation and DEI efforts are critical for stellar performance.  By designing better decision architectures based on decision making and behavioral science I accordingly help you get:

Why the focus on decisions? 

Decisions precede all action.  

Whatever organizations do, all of them make decisions. They are decision factories.

If we want to create a step change in our performance and increase our abilities to face the challenges ahead such as climate change, better (access to) education and healthcare, clean energy, gender equality we need to improve the quality of our decisions.
