Ten years ago, I made myself a promise.

One day, I would walk the trails of El Chaltén in Patagonia, not as an escape, but as a reminder of why I chose this path.

That hike wasn’t just about the mountains.

For a long time, I thought success was something you arrive at.

Is your imagination broken?

I've shed my ego countless times.

When I say ego, I'm talking about my mind-made identity. 

All the labels and expectations projected over me by others, my environment, and my past. All the incessant wants, desires, and goals that I'd been conditioned to believe were who I am.

The first time felt like I didn't know who I was anymore.

No identity. No labels. No expectations.

I disengaged from gossip, judgment, the need to prove anything.

It was lonely.

But I stayed comfortable through the discomfort.

Eventually it became liberating.

Then life happened.

I slipped back into old patterns without realizing it.

So I had to shed the ego again.

But the second time was different.
