He’s taller than he looks on screen!

In fact he’s a bit of a man mountain and look how tiny he makes me look! 

I had the absolute delight to meet one of my online heroes yesterday at the fabulous* SocialDay ® B2B conference. 

One thing which was no surprise at all was his personality 💜

I have known Joe Glover online for years and watched The Marketing Meet Up grow and grow. 

Without making him too big headed and saying how lovely, kind and generous he is online - he did not disappoint in person. 

True authenticity at it’s best!  

Although, Joe, you may want to lower your camera in future😂

Talked. Trained. Rode. Learned. Some lovely catch-ups and some brand new connections! October went by in a flash. If we crossed paths, it was great to see you! 💜

Started October by swapping my laptop for my Lycra and rode across the mountains from Milan to Rome with Ride25 Ltd, raising funds for 1moreChild. 🚵‍♀️

Met brilliant business founders along the way, we were over 80 riders in total, pedalling, chatting and raising money. 🚴🏻‍♀️

🔸 A conference by the sea…yes please! Brighton SEO. 
So many takeaways: 
=>> Use the whole of the internet to get visibility on AI (yes including LinkedIn) and answering potential clients' questions will help you too (dare I say I told you so?!). 

🔸 Presented a special edition of LinkedIn especially for Project Managers at the BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT ,  Tony Fleming won a book and it was great to see Lochmar MacKay who I first met on Ride25.

🔸 A very proud moment as my daughter Zella graduated from LAMDA - very proud mum! 🧡

🔸 Joined Robert Craven and the GYDA crew at the Tower of London, so many insights as usual and such a supportive group.

🔸 Met my new Toastmasters group at @Angel Speakers! The focus this month for me is to think about my TED X talk - apparently there's one in all of us! 🤩

🔸 Ran an online session with the University of Westminster to help their students find and connect with their ideal employers. 

🔸 And finally caught up with the The Worshipful Company of Marketors at a pub night lock in! Lots of useful tips and fun people.

YES! That’s what Koplus U.K. achieved this week! 🙌🏼🙌🏼

I worked with the team at Koplus (also Rim Seating) in Clerkenwell this week on Tuesday and Wednesday. 

Two half days going through my training programme and the results were clear evidence that just updating your profiles and engaging with a few posts makes a HUGE difference to our success on LinkedIn. 

I’ll be writing a fuller case study as we continue to work together but just look at these post impressions from Tuesday morning to Wednesday lunchtime:

BARRY FOLEY started on 1334 and achieved 2362 

Louise Adams started on  216 and climbed to 704 impressions!

Steve Butler went from 1308 to 1807

Catherine Ram went from 1459 to 1859

And finally, Jack B. who was at just 11 went up to 52 impressions!  

This is just the beginning of our work together. 

Just watch this fabulous bunch as these, and other, figures continue to grow - including, of course, the number of orders we expect to start coming in for their acoustic booths and seating!

What is an 'emoji palette'?

It's a phrase I created to help my clients use emojis in a purposeful and strategic way.

Rather than splatter a mix of different emojis all over the place, use a select group of emojis with thought and care.

We're talking about branding here. When you become known for using a certain group of emojis and people see those emojis, they will think of you.

Encouraging your colleagues to help choose and use a group of emojis is not only fun, it also gives them a sense of autonomy and unity.

Two companies I see doing this really well are:

🟣 SAAS company SourceWhale  - no prizes for guessing which emoji they use 🐳!

🟠 Global Licensing company Fanattik  who happen to have a 🧠 as their logo!

These companies use their 'one' emoji in their company page posts, personal profile posts and also in their headlines. Brilliant use of emojis for  rand recognition.

You can also use an emoji in your name. Not only is it really powerful from a branding POV, it also helps filter out the bots. Bots can't read emojis!

My role involved managing junior designers, overseeing workflow and ensuring the smooth running of the design studio (team of 8). 
   
I partnered with a host of well-known brands on their communication design, embracing the power of a strong visual brand identity. Key clients included Sainsbury’s, Network Rail, Eurostar, Parcelforce,  London Underground, Midland Mainline, McDonald's, BIBA, BOC, Scope and Prince’s Trust.
 
Art directing corporate publications and employee magazines from design through to print, the role required strong layout, typographic and practical skills. Involvement in new business pitches, both creating and presenting concept designs, provided a distinct opportunity for creative expression. The varied workload required managing conflicting priorities, strict budgets and tight schedules, whilst maintaining quality design. 
   
Achievements:
• Created concept design visuals that helped win contracts to produce TNT’s and Parcelforce staff publications, amongst others.
• Account manager and designer for Network Rail, one of Beetroot’s key clients, using strong communication and organisational skills to maximise its design potential. 
• Designed several award-winning publications, including Eurostar Voyage (PR Week Award finalist) and Sainsbury’s Journal (Gold award for best internal newsmagazine – Communicators in Business (CiB) Awards; best retail in-house magazine – Business Food and Drink Journalist Awards; PR Week Award finalist).
