I don't have pics to post from 2016, because life was so different.

I only have 3 pictures with my late father.

Life before he passed felt like a fairytale.

Home, school, and church were my whole world. 

I was a very active student, but many thought I’d become a nun.

I don’t have a single photo of my old home.

In 2021, when I started working, I used an Honor 8x.

I knew the phone wouldn’t last long. Still, I didn’t back up my data.

I lost almost all my photos, though the memories stayed.

In 2026, I live a life my 2016 self wouldn’t recognize.

Knowing this, my long-term client who visited me with his wife said, “It must have been tough.”

I was caught off guard.

He had never spoken to me like that in 2.5 years.

After a minute or more, I said, “It was. But life back then was good too.”

People who know my transformation often assume I hated life until 2021.

That’s not true.

I deeply love and miss the years when I:
-never wanted to use a phone
-roamed around green fields
-accompanied my parents on their daily tasks

Those years of a small circle, no financial freedom, and big dreams shaped who I am today.

The memories hurt now. But I don’t hate them.

That goofy client’s unexpected comment and the 2016 trend gave me mixed emotions.

Gratitude.
A little sadness.
And a little optimism.

Stop adding emojis to your LinkedIn profile URL 😈

It doesn’t improve clicks.
It doesn’t make it catchy.
It doesn’t boost reach.

Because emojis don’t work inside the URL.

When your profile link is shared in an engagement list and that link contains an emoji, the link doesn’t open, and the engagement never happens.

LinkedIn profile URLs accept only letters, numbers, and hyphens.

A grandma told me my red bag would provoke a bull.

According to her, it was the worst or weirdest choice.

Her granddaughter disagreed.
“I love it. I’ve been looking for something similar. But in green.”

Preferences aren’t universal. Neither are content strategies.

In 2025, I worked with clients who burned serious money following popular LinkedIn advice.

They commented aggressively.
Ran back-to-back ads.
Posted polished designs.
Expanded to multiple channels.
Stayed consistent for months.

Everything looked right on the surface.

But lead generation still failed, because the tactics they used didn’t work for their audience.

A red bag won’t impress someone who hates red.

Before copying a framework or hiring a strategist, get clear on who you’re speaking to.

Once you understand how your audience thinks, strategy starts working.

Within months of my father’s passing, some people called my mother privileged and lucky.

It stings because the term ‘privilege’ is never even remotely close to my mother.

She lost her strongest support system, her mother, when she was 21.

She was the tenth and youngest child of the family, which meant she went through too many family dramas.

She had an MA in English, but got married to a family where she struggled more than her sisters.

She became the first lady President of our village panchayat, but was mostly a ‘housewife’.

A housewife who had to actively work hard with her self-employed husband in the fields for our small cattle farm.

Even I used to say that my father was the sole breadwinner of the family, while my Mom had always been an active contributor.

This ‘privileged’ lady lost her better half too early, and that cut off her income source as well.

Ironically, the person who labeled her privileged lives a life of annual trips, restaurant meals, and impulsive purchases, yet still blames others when in debt.

My mother never had that life. She chose extreme frugality so we could survive.

Years later, with her daughters earning well, she doesn’t have to worry much about money, but still chooses frugality.

Because she survived more than two decades as a married woman in a ‘reputed’ household with rich relatives, while she and her husband had zero bank balance.

My career helped my mother retire, not from her ownership as a homemaker, but from her extra work.

In her fifties, she is almost in a relieved daily life after her decades of hard work.

Social media and society glorify skilled labourers, especially the women who are struggling financially.

But there are many women like my mother too, who get called ‘privileged’ by others who work half or less than her.

That’s like a student who bunked classes calling the one who studied every day “privileged.”

It’s unfair. And it needs to be said.

Stories like my mother’s are far more common than we admit.

Everyone who tries to attract a global audience and feels stuck should know this.

You don’t have to appear like them.

Last year, I gave a virtual tour of my place to many of my clients.

Offline too, for 2 of them.

They called my place a 'forest', which isn't actually one. 

I wasn’t in formals.
I wore simple outfits that felt like me.

I was completely myself.
And very different from them.

I’ve spent years watching people try to:
-sound like their clients.
-carry themselves like their clients.

Sometimes it works. It makes you approachable.

But the clients with ROI worth talking about never cared about that, in my case.

If they stayed long-term, they knew my real persona, values, limitations, and strengths.

The key was never becoming like them.

You can relax, be yourself, and still build a lead funnel that attracts global clients.

Trying to be like them only complicates what doesn’t need fixing, right?

If you want fewer leads but better ones in 2026, this will help.

1. 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐥 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭

Content is meant to attract people, just not the wrong ones.

If you get 25 people on discovery calls and only 2 convert, that’s a positioning issue.

I’d rather get 10 people on calls and convert 7.

Repulsion is part of positioning.

2. 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲

Being liked by everyone attracts undecided buyers.
Clear opinions attract decisive buyers.

Overly polite, neutral, agreeable content may perform well on surface metrics, but it rarely converts.

3. 𝐃𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫-𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐲

Free value is good, but over-explaining everything is not.

When you do that, people consume and leave.

Premium clients hire you for judgment and how you think.

Over-explaining won't always get it done. 

4. 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫

Premium leads come from repetition.

Say the same thing in different ways until the right people self-select in.

5. 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲

Talk about budget ranges, timelines, and expectations openly.

Clear constraints filter people before they ever reach your inbox.

6. 𝐒𝐚𝐲 𝐧𝐨 𝐟𝐚𝐬𝐭

I’ve been saying no to bad-fit leads, quick calls with no context,
and collaborations that only look good on paper since 2021.

One fast no, said in a 5-person Zoom call, freed time for my biggest project in 2022.

Fast no’s create space for better opportunities, sometimes even from people you said no to. 

Fewer leads don't mean you are failing. 

They usually imply that your positioning is finally working.

I'm exposing the strategy of some of the smart storytellers.

They build strong connection with their audience through personal stories.

But the truth is, they protect their privacy and keep repeating a few selected stories.

I do that too.

Many people think I share almost everything in my life.

What they actually know are the same stories, told from different angles.

Here are the ones I’ve consciously permitted myself to share:

-I’m a fashion design graduate who pursue her passion.

-I hustled relentlessly from 2021–2023 to build a better life.

-I battle with mental health struggles followed by the grief of losing my father.
 
That’s it.

Everything else you see is safe storytelling.

Daily-life moments like:

• “A grandma said my red bag choice is weird.”

• “My long hair made my hostel mates cry at night, thinking it was a ghost.”

And this is exactly what I do for my clients too.

In a year, my clients share anywhere between 12–96 stories.

They aren’t always unique.

They’re the same stories, shared from different angles.

That’s what allows:
• Non-boring repetition
• Privacy protection
• Consistent growth

Most people don’t even realize they do this.

Smart storytelling isn’t journaling your entire life online.

It’s being selective, intentional, and strategic, while protecting your privacy and your positioning.

Storytelling worked before.
In 2026, relevance wins.

I’ve been storytelling here and my life changed.

I was human.
I talked about struggles.
I mentioned the non-glam stuff.

People loved it because it was real.

And yes, opportunities knocked on my inbox almost daily.

But not because I was emotional.

It happened because every story had a point.

A takeaway, or a shift in perspective, or a lesson someone could apply.

My stories were built to educate, not just entertain.

That’s the difference most people miss.

If you’re trying to grow on LinkedIn in 2026, don’t randomly share stories.

Storytellers are everywhere now.

Your story won’t generate leads if you are like:
• that founder who doesn’t need leads.
• that creator who vents but never guides.
• that influencer who only promotes products.

Instead, ask yourself this before posting:
What will someone learn from this?
What problem does this story help them solve?
Why should a potential client trust me after reading this?

Relevance is what converts stories into leads, not any shortcuts.

The fastest way to kill reach is posting too often.

Most people assume that the algorithm is against them when they’ve low reach.

In reality, it’s usually self-inflicted.

We’re in an era of content overload.

Everyone is posting.
Everyone is teaching.
Everyone sounds similar.

Posting more doesn’t automatically mean reaching more people.

With clients, I see this pattern repeatedly.

They post daily, thinking consistency will get them visibility. 

Instead, their posts start competing with each other.

Yesterday’s post is still finding its audience, and today’s post cuts it off mid-way.

That’s cannibalisation.

It gets worse when people post the same idea too often.

So when reach drops, it’s not always the algorithm.

It’s the audience having nothing new to respond to.

What works better is fewer posts, clear positioning, enough space for ideas to breathe, and intentional timing.

Posting often is a tactic.
Posting smart is the strategy.

And in today’s feed, strategy always wins 💚

“Get a life outside work.”

I stopped being a homebody last year.

I started eating well, reading more, and sleeping properly.

And the same people asked,
“Don’t you have work to do?”

Weird how that works.
