Process Control Engineer with MP Materials. 

Stephen supports the Mountain Pass Rare Earth Mine and Processing Facility which is the largest rare earth mine in the Western Hemisphere.
 
Currently, Stephen is working to support and improve the milling, separations and finishing processes on site. With technical expertise in PLC programming, SCADA development and implementation, OT/IT equipment installation, configuration and deployment. 

Stephen uses his ability to leverage knowledge and experience to help MP Materials overcome challenges and deliver successful process improvements and projects, playing his part in helping restore the rare earth supply chain in the United States. 

Stephen also has experience as a penetration tester and information security specialist. He is ranked in the top 1% of 1.2 million+ users on one of the largest cyber security training and virtual penetration testing platforms. These platforms emulate real-world environments, simulating up-to-date security vulnerabilities and misconfigurations. Stephen’s skills and his experience in industrial automation ensures that security best practices are in place for critical infrastructure. 

Additionally, Stephen is a former member of the Nevada National Guard where he served as a Network and Communication Engineer for his unit. There, he ensured reliable network availability and communications for his unit, both while stationed at home and in field operation settings. He has also served in the capacity of point of contact to coordinate communications between multiple units while in joint operations during state active duty missions.

A graduate of UNLV, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Unmanned Aerial Systems. Stephen is also an active member of the International Society of Automation (ISA), holding a ISA-CFS (Cybersecurity Fundamental Specialist) certification.
