Fernando Mendoza took the snap, saw the lane, and took off.
Twelve yards later, he was in the end zone.

3.5 minutes at 175 degrees below zero sounds manageable until the door closes and your body realizes it is not in charge anymore.

The first minute is uneventful, almost calm, and then the negotiation starts. Your breath tightens, your focus narrows, and every instinct quietly suggests that stepping out early would be the rational move.

Nothing about the experience is complex. That is what makes it revealing. There is no distraction, no workaround, no way to outthink it. You either stay present and control your breathing, or you give the moment permission to control you.

I come out feeling physically reset. Inflammation drops. Recovery improves. Sleep is better. Those are the obvious benefits.

The real reason I do it is mental.

It forces clarity. It compresses attention. It trains the ability to stay steady when discomfort is loud and options feel limited.

That matters far beyond a cryo chamber.

The same skill shows up when decisions carry real weight, when timing matters, and when hesitation is more dangerous than action.

This is harder than it looks. That is the point.
