I had the privilege of being selected as one of only six women in the United States to participate in the Women in IT Networking in Supercomputing (WINS) program. This program, funded by a grant from the NSF and developed through a collaboration between the DOE's Energy Sciences Network (ESnet), the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR), and the Keystone Initiative for Network-Based Education and Research (KINBER), provides practical experience in building and managing SCinet, one of the world's most advanced high-speed IT networks.

During my tenure as a member of the SCinet routing team, I held a critical role in installing, configuring, and supporting commodity and exhibit floors, as well as facilitating external connectivity with commodity internet and R&E services. The program offers direct exposure to cutting-edge technologies and encompasses an entire year of network design and planning, followed by a month of building, a week of operation, and a day of decommissioning the entire network.
