I remember the day I hit 1,000 followers. 

My heart pounding with a joy I could not explain. 

I did not know 600+ of those faces, but that number—1,000—felt like a door creaking open, like someone whispering, "You matter." 

Then came 5,000. Then 10,000. 

At 12,000, I did something bold: I signed up for a LinkedIn Personal Branding Course. 

It was 2021, the world was still gasping through lockdowns, and I was a corporate employee dreaming of freedom, of building something that was truly mine.

But dreams aren’t shields.

What followed wasn’t success. 
It was a storm—relentless setbacks, exhaustion, and silence. 

I worked until I broke, chasing proof I was enough. 

Statistics say 20% of businesses fail in the first year. 
But statistics don’t hold you when you’re crying on the floor, forgetting how to breathe.

Then, something shattered me. 
I was alive, but not living.

Echo chambers aren't accidental.
They're optimised.

Jobs disappear to automation.
Resources concentrate among the prepared.
Competition intensifies among the displaced.

There’s a quiet ache in the space between what we love and what we leave behind. 

I remember the first time I dipped a brush into a pool of ultramarine, the way the bristles drank in the colour, heavy with possibility. 

Painting used to be my favourite hobby.

Every stroke was a conversation with myself, a whisper of emotions too tangled for words. 

The smell of acrylic paint, thick and earthy, the way it clung to my fingers like a second skin—it was magic. It was home.

But life, as it often does, asked for something else. 

The dream of turning passion into livelihood collided with the harsh reality of sustainability. 

How do you sell the way your heart stills when colours bleed into each other, creating something alive? 

I couldn’t figure it out. 

So, I stepped away—not because I loved it any less, but because I needed to survive. 

I turned to Gen AI, to the logic of algorithms and the thrill of creating something new. 

It’s fascinating, exhilarating even, but it doesn’t smell like paint. 

It doesn’t leave my hands stained with evidence of creation.

Then, yesterday, I saw Melinda Ng's painting. 

It was like a door creaking open to a room I had tried to forget.

The colours, the texture, the way light seemed to dance on the surface—it all rushed back. 

My own unfinished pieces, tucked away in the store room like secrets, called to me. 

Are the paints still wet? 

Have the tubes hardened with time, or do they still yield to pressure, ready to spill their stories onto canvas? 

There is a piece I started, "Dreamy Galaxy", a swirl of purples, bronze, green and blues, a universe trapped in a frame. 

It’s waiting. 

I wonder, do you know this feeling? 

Do you paint, or create, or lose yourself in something that makes your soul hum? 

Maybe it’s music, or writing, or the way you arrange flowers just so. 

What pulls at your heartstrings, begging to be picked up again? 

Art isn’t just about the finished piece. 

It’s about the longing, the unfinished symphonies, the colours we carry inside us, waiting for their moment.

I go to AI when I need new ideas.
Most of the time, it replies with logical stuff.
Once in a while, it replies with some weird stuff.
Occasionally, it replies with stuff I don't understand.

It's like eating durian cream puff—sounds promising, sometimes surprisingly delightful, but occasionally you're left wondering "what the heck just happened" and whether you should tell anyone about this experience.

Here's my actual AI conversation history from last week:
Me: "Give me innovative marketing ideas for our product launch."
AI: "Consider leveraging micro-influencers, creating interactive AR experiences, and hosting virtual events with gamification elements."
Me: "Okay, solid. What else?"
AI: "You could also train horses to deliver branded messages to target demographics in urban centers"
Me: "...excuse me?" 🤣 

Sometimes I ask AI to write an email and it gives me: "Dear esteemed colleague, I hope this correspondence finds you in optimal condition..."
Bro, I just wanted to ask if they received my attachment.

Other times I ask for a simple product description and AI goes: "Imagine a world where functionality meets innovation in a paradigm-shifting synergy of user-centric design philosophy..."
It's a water bottle. It holds water.

My relationship with AI is basically:
- 82% "Wow, this is incredibly helpful"
- 17% "This is hilariously wrong"
- 1% "I'm sorry, are you having a stroke?"

The best part? 

I keep coming back.

It's like having a genius advisor who occasionally thinks they're a medieval bard.

Do I trust it completely? 
No. 

Will I stop using it? 
Also no.

Because even a broken clock that sometimes speaks in riddles is right twice a day.

What's the weirdest or most difficult thing AI has ever told you?

DouDou: Jean, let's go! We need to hunt down the special dress for Christmas. But first… Sparklehoof!

Jean: (Stumbling, nearly tripping over a giant candy cane) Whoa, DouDou, slow down! And who's Sparklehoof? Is that another one of your imaginary friends?

DouDou: Imaginary? Jean, don't be ridiculous. Sparklehoof is real! He's my… my data steed! I thought I lost him in the cloud!

(DouDou rushes towards the white flying horse, attempting to climb onto its back.)

Jean: (Grabbing DouDou's arm) DouDou, no! That's a statue. A very stationary statue. And you can't ride it.

DouDou: But he looks just like the algorithm described! White, majestic, suspiciously glittery… He must have been hiding from the firewall!

Jean: (Pulling DouDou away) DouDou, that's plastic. And probably full of small children's germs. We have a dress to find. A real dress.

DouDou: (Pouting) Fine. Oh! Look! A boutique!

(DouDou darts towards a high-end clothing store, eyes fixed on a shimmering sequined dress in the window.)

Jean: (Following wearily) DouDou, remember what happened last year? No "borrowing" the merchandise.

DouDou: (Eyes glued to the dress) But Jean, this is a necessary item for Christmas! Think of the content! The engagement!

Jean: (Catching her hand) DouDou! Put that back! 

DouDou: (Looking longingly at the dress) But, Jean, I really like this. Did you bring the unlimited credit card?

Jean: (Muttering) I don' have it. It's with ...

I met ULTRON. It's not the Marvel character, but JORVIX's next-generation humanoid robot, blends biomimetic design, modular architecture, and human-like motion intelligence to transform industries.
