I am the Founder, CEO and Clinical Director of The Ralph Veterinary Referral Centre. This is a multidisciplinary small animal specialist referral hospital in the South East of England, west of and near London. The Ralph has one of the UK's biggest 24-7-365 Emergency and Critical Services. Our compassion- and ethical practice-focused startup hospital opened in February 2019. It is now (August 2025) the UK's largest non-corporate, non-university referral centre with ~260 Ralphers. (http://theralph.vet/)

I set up the Veterinary ECC Small Talk project. This is now centred on a busy Facebook group with 66,000 members as of August 2025 (https://www.facebook.com/groups/veterinaryeccsmalltalk/). I also wrote a book and developed an app on Small Animal Emergency Medicine (no longer available).

I set up, personally fund and run The Ralph Site (http://www.theralphsite.com/), a non-profit pet loss support project including a website with information, resources and memorials, a blog, and a busy Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/TheRalphSite/) and private group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/theralphsite). The group now has 18,000 members (August 2025).

I am a Co-founder of Ethical Globe (https://www.ethicalglobe.com/), a directory and community of vegan people, businesses, organisations and projects, and of Veterinary Vegan Network (https://www.facebook.com/groups/vetvegans/).

I was previously a Trustee of The Mayhew (Animal Home/Rescue in London) for several years and, more recently, a Board Member for BradyCare, an animal welfare and veterinary education charity from 2022-2025 (https://bradycare.org/).

Worked in a busy and world-renowed specialist orthopaedic & neurological referral veterinary hospital as a ward auxiliary providing support, rehabilitation and monitoring the care of post-operative patients. Provided assessment and support of nursing and surgical techniques in addition to clinical cleaning, laundry, grooming, walking, nutritional regimes and handling in a range of animals.

Volunteered as a peer mentor during counselling training, providing assessment, goal setting & support for people in the community undergoing recovery.

Teaching in FE/HE: completed schemes of work & lesson plans and producing supportive materials to facilitate sessions. Taught animal science subjects from level 2 to 4 in Breeding and Genetics, breed development, nutrition, health and nursing, behaviour and welfare, anatomy & physiology and wildlife rehabilitation. In addition, I also provided learning support and academic assistance for level 2 animal care students.
