I am the Founder, CEO and Clinical Director of The Ralph Veterinary Referral Centre. This is a multidisciplinary small animal specialist referral hospital in the South East of England west of and near London. The Ralph has one of the UK's biggest 24-7-365 Emergency and Critical Services. Our compassion- and ethical practice-focused startup hospital opened in February 2019. It is now (October 2023) the UK's largest independent (non-corporate, non-university) referral centre with ~230 Ralphers. (http://theralph.vet/)

I set up the Veterinary ECC Small Talk project. This is now centred on a busy Facebook group with 54,000 members as of October 2023 (https://www.facebook.com/groups/veterinaryeccsmalltalk/). I also wrote a book and developed an app on Small Animal Emergency Medicine (https://www.kimbavetapps.com/).

I set up, personally fund and run The Ralph Site (http://www.theralphsite.com/), a non-profit pet loss support project including a website with information, resources and memorials, a blog, and a busy Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/TheRalphSite/) and private group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/theralphsite). The group now has 12,000 members (October 2023).

I am a Co-founder of Ethical Globe (https://www.ethicalglobe.com/), a directory and community of vegan people, businesses, organisations and projects, and of Veterinary Vegan Network (https://www.facebook.com/groups/vetvegans/).

In 2023, I became a Board Member for BradyCare, an animal welfare and veterinary education charity (https://bradycare.org/).

I am responsible for my current clients feeding Spillers and Winergy Equilibrium products, providing them with nutritional advice and support for all Thoroughbreds; racing/pre-training, rest and recuperation, sales preparation and at stud.  I support owners/trainers and breeders with superior nutritional advise and tools such as forage analysis and FeedXL, to help their horses be the best they possibly can be: as athletes, parents or youngstock. 
I also am accountable for securing and attracting new customers, with my daily visits to current and potential clients across the East side of the country. 
The research team which provides the science behind Spillers is based at the Waltham Centre for pet nutrition, and is known as the Equine Studies Group, which allows myself to keep up to date with the latest research and developments in the equine industry and thus pass information onto clients, to hopefully enhance their success, productivity and welfare.

Two days after my final University exams, I headed to France to start my work near Bayeux on a large Thoroughbred Stud Farm.
I have been stationed on the colts yard and have been given three colts to individually prep for the August and October sales in Deauville, along with having day to day yard work. I'm really excited to experience the prepping season outside of the UK, to see the different practises different yards adopt to achieve the best looking yearling and the sales themselves. 
Along with the sales, I am also here to try and study as much of the language as I can, by having a tutor whilst here and using my evenings practising.
It's set in an amazing setting, both the stud itself and the local town of Bayeux. I'm looking forward to meeting new people and observing different opinions to what I already experienced during my time at working at different studs whilst at University.

Rossdales Equine Hospital

I shadowed the vets at Rossdales Equine Hospital for one week during my second year Easter holidays. 
I was able to observe a variety of areas covered by the variety of specialist veterinary professionals - ranging from colic surgery to liver biopsies. 
I came away with an absolutely invaluable experience which I can apply to daily life with my own horses and suggest advice to others.
