Once upon a time, there was a donkey.

It visited LinkedIn, every day. 

Every single day. 

And barked.

Yes, barked. 

Like Bow Wow.

Not a Bray. 

But a Bow Wow. 

LIKE A LOUD BOW WOW. 

It barked first thing in the morning. 

It barked last thing at night.

It did this for 30 days. 

Then 60. 

Then 120 days passed. 

On the 121st day, another donkey saw our donkey barking. 

And asked why it was doing so. 

“A personal branding expert told me 4 months ago that if I barked consistently and authentically over a period of time, then people would believe I’m a top dog copywriter,” said our donkey to the other donkey. 

“Well, if it was about being authentic, you could just have brayed,” said the other donkey to our donkey.

There is a sweet-ass moral somewhere in this story.

The airport book is a cunning, slightly smug deity, sitting on shelves in Mumbai, Delhi, or Dubai, wedged between Haldiram’s namkeen, overpriced sunglasses, and travel pillows that smell faintly of coconut oil and resignation. 

Titles like Do Epic Shit, Atomic Habits, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck, and Kintsugi glint under fluorescent lights, their spines flexing like tiny bodybuilders in slow motion, silently judging every human who dares to pick them up without actually reading.

And then the humans arrive.

Uncle Sharma, kurta crisp, shoes polished, chai in hand, clutches Atomic Habits. He never reads it. He flips it open randomly for effect, pretends to study bullet points, then nods gravely as if he has unlocked the secrets of the universe. Atomic Habits whispers: “Step one: Look wise. Step two: Open at random. Step three: Make someone else jealous. Step four: Continue doing nothing.”

Aunty Meena, sari tucked, tote bag bulging with snacks, carries Do Epic Shit under her arm like a small, shiny Ganesha idol. Her toddler gnaws on it. She glances at the cover, murmurs “Yeh zaroor mere zindagi badal dega,” and then strategically positions it in front of her face whenever someone she wants to impress walks by. The book sighs. “Arre yaar, wasted potential, maximum show-off.”

Vikram Bhai, stockbroker, iced latte in one hand, selfie stick in the other, proudly holds The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck. He doesn’t read it. He doesn’t plan to. He only holds it while photographing himself on the moving walkway. The book flaps closed at the exact moment the camera clicks. The latte spills. The selfie is ruined. Not Giving a F*ck whispers: “Perfect. Human illusion failed. Beauty in chaos.”

Riya, backpack stuffed with Kintsugi, textbooks, and a half-eaten vada pav, opens the book once. She studies the page… for five seconds… then gets distracted by the flight attendant handing out water. The book slides on the tray table, muttering: “Broken things… humans… attention span… ugh. No respect for art.”

The airport books notice patterns. Humans never read them. They only hold them, parade them like peacocks, angle them just so for selfies, occasionally tap them to show 'serious contemplation.' 

Travelers nod at each other: “Oh, she’s reading Kintsugi. Deep. Very profound.” The books roll their spines, mutter under covers: “Deep? She’s thinking about her Instagram caption. Epic.”

Airport books are not for reading. They are props, ornaments, tiny tyrants ruling terminals. They prank, confuse, humiliate, and judge humans for sport.

The airport does not belong to humans. It belongs to them – these silent, sentient, judgmental overlords who exist solely to make humans look intellectual without ever actually reading.

If you could fix ONE thing about your LinkedIn profile, what would it be?

I asked 50 founders last week. The answers were surprising:

Most said: “My headline.”

A few said: “Better posts.”

But here’s the reality:

Their headline was fine.
Their posts were decent.

Here’s the truth:
Your LinkedIn profile isn’t a resume.
It’s a sales page.

It should answer one question immediately:
“What’s in it for me?”

Not your experience, beliefs, or mission statement.
What problem do you solve? For whom? What’s the result?

When you get this right:
→ The right people reach out
→ Your content gets more engagement
→ Conversations turn into clients faster

When you get it wrong, you’re just another “passionate entrepreneur helping businesses succeed.”

Challenge:
Look at your headline.
If someone from your ideal client profile saw it, would they immediately think:
“This person can help me”?

If not, you know what to fix.

The Hook
You’re competing with the scroll. Start with:
→ Bold insight, number, or question
→ Something that makes people stop
→ Create curiosity in the first 2 lines

White Space
Short lines = engagement.
→ Break up paragraphs
→ Create rhythm for readability
→ Give the reader room to breathe

A Real Moment
People trust experience over expertise.
→ Share a personal story or lesson
→ Make it human, not perfect
→ Show vulnerability or growth

One Clear Takeaway
Value isn’t volume.
→ Focus on one actionable idea
→ Keep it simple, no clutter
→ Give them something to use today

Emotion
Posts get shared when they make people feel:
→ Inspired, challenged, or validated
→ Uncomfortable but thoughtful
→ Connected to the story being told

Credibility
Show, don’t tell.
→ Share relevant experience or results
→ Use client examples or data
→ Make it relatable, not bragging

Clear Next Step
Tell them what to do next.
→ Comment, save, reflect, follow
→ Be direct and specific
→ Don’t assume they’ll figure it out

The real truth:
You don’t need a big audience to go viral. You need clarity. One well-crafted post can outperform months of random posting.

Three months ago, a creator came to me frustrated.

Not because LinkedIn wasn’t working.

But because it was.

High reach.
Consistent engagement.
Growing follower count.

Yet every win felt… empty.
