Hi, I'm Aimen. I've had a bunch of different roles in marketing and communications, leading campaigns for some of the world's best-known tech companies and creating brands and GTM strategies to help early-stage startups punch above their weight. 

I'm currently Head of Content for Uptick - a B2B SaaS scale-up helping fire & security businesses keep our buildings safe. 

Eight years into my startup journey, I've built a 'T-shaped' skillset around my extensive experience in brand communications, go-to-market strategy and content marketing. I've been responsible for growth marketing and demand generation campaigns spanning email marketing, in-person and online events, partnerships, customer marketing, ABM and paid media.

That's a wrap on Intersec '26 and a soul-enriching week in Dubai.

I couldn't be more impressed with the team we have assembled across the Middle East, Turkey and Africa. 

What shines the most every time I'm in the region is the passion and determination of every person to do their best and help us be the best. And we're succeeding!

But it's not just that, they're a pleasure to spend time with. A colleague said it best - "it's like coming to visit friends" - and I'm super grateful for that.

Last night, Charlie and I had the pleasure of representing IntelexVision at Milestone Systems' awards dinner.

I am happy to report we returned to our hotels at a sensible hour, ready for a busy Day 2 Intersec Expo.

Many thanks Chebel Bou Chebel for the invitation, and congrats Annu Vishnu on organising and hosting an excellent evening!

Dubai-based friends and connections - I'm in town for my first Intersec Expo next week!

If we know each other here and haven't had a chance to meet yet, I'd love to grab coffee/lunch/dinner.

Looking forward to connecting with many of our partners in the region and meeting some more colleagues in person for the first time, too!

Also, I'm not at all mad about waving goodbye to our sub-zero temperatures here in the UK for a little bit 🥶

This is my second time going through an ISO audit, and trust me - it's no picnic.

So why bother? Because - as our industry knows only too well - trust is built through action, not words.

'Blue Monday' was invented to sell holidays, but the winter blues are very real. It's easy to feel a bit deflated and restless in the grey days of January.

So I thought it was a good day to share a resolution my partner and I made over the holidays: to have at least one new adventure a month.

Yes, that can include foreign travel, but they don't all have to be big things. 

The aim is to disrupt our habits and tendencies and get out of our comfort zones. That could include:

- Learning a new sport or skill
- Going to events we would usually pass on
- UK road trips

So far, we have lined up British wine tasting, a Moroccan cooking class and we're planning a hiking and cycling holiday in Georgia. 

That leaves 9 months still to fill! What else should we try?

I've just finished playing Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and I don't think enough people are talking about this incredible underdog success story (outside of the gaming world).

Expedition 33 recently set the world record for Game of the Year Awards (430+). What's remarkable is that it reportedly cost French developer Sandfall Interactive less than $10m to make.

For comparison, the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 is expected to be the most expensive game ever at $1-2bn!

Sandfall's success is an inspiration to marketers and company builders out there who are trying to make a big impact with smaller budgets:

1️⃣ Sandfall found talent in unexpected places. 

Lead writer Jennifer Svedberg-Yen replied to a post on Reddit. Score composer Lorien Testard was discovered through his posts on SoundCloud. They bought into the vision because that's all there was when they were pitched the project. 

2️⃣ They took something familiar and made it feel different. 

The RPG genre is well-established, but most games take their inspiration from Japanese design and culture. Clair Obscur wears its French heritage on its sleeve, from character and place names (Gustave, Lumiere) to world design.

3️⃣ They leaned into community

Lacking a big marketing budget for TV and OOH, they turned to social media, and YouTube in particular. The way the game is built and designed lends itself extremely well to YouTube content, with crazy hard optional battles and a number of easter eggs to enjoy once you finish the main story.
