4,000 people got fired at Block yesterday. Your CS team is still updating Salesforce by hand.

Jack Dorsey cut half his company. Said intelligence tools changed what it means to run a business. Stock jumped 22%.

Then he said most companies will do the same within a year.

He's not wrong.

So if you lead a CS org, what's your plan? Because there are three levels of intelligence right now and where you sit determines whether your team survives.

Level one is no intelligence. That's Salesforce. Gainsight. You log the notes, update the fields, build the reports, prep the decks. You are the software's employee.

Level two is intelligence that watches. It listens to calls, summarizes meetings, tells you what happened. But it's a rearview mirror. It tells you the customer is unhappy after they've already churned.

Level three is intelligence that works. It sends the follow-up. Preps the QBR. Flags the risk before you see it. Knows your customer's business and acts on it.

Most CS teams are stuck at level one. That's not a criticism. That's the reality of what's been available. 

But you can move right now.

Demand intelligent software that owns the customer end to end. Not tools that track what you did. Tools that do what needs to be done. If your vendor can't show you that, fire them.

Stop waiting until next year when your contract with zero-intelligence or bolted on AI summarizers ends. Get budget now.

Get technical. You don't need to be an engineer but you need to understand what's possible. The CS leaders who survive this next chapter won't be the ones managing spreadsheets. They'll be the ones who know what to ask for.

Start building. Vibe code your own workflows. Use Claude, Cursor, Lovable. Learn what you can build and what you shouldn't. At the end of the day, someone has to worry about the customers.

Today a CSM manages 10 to 50 accounts. With level three intelligence, one CSM manages 1,000.

That's not a layoff story. That's a superpower story. It's time to move.
