Here's the thing nobody tells beginners: you don't need to try everything.

I spent months testing dozens of AI tools before figuring out what actually mattered. 

So I've mapped out the main categories and the tools I'd actually recommend within each. Not comprehensive. Just practical.

The categories that matter:
- Writing & Content – ChatGPT for long-form, Claude for analysis, Jasper for marketing copy

- Visual Creation – Midjourney for concepts, Canva AI for social graphics, DALL-E for quick generation

- Video & Audio – Descript for editing, ElevenLabs for voiceovers, Runway for effects

- Research & Data – Perplexity for web research, Julius AI for data analysis, Consensus for academic papers

- Productivity – Notion AI for notes, Otter.ai for meetings, Zapier for automation

- Marketing – Copy.ai for ad copy, Lately for social content, Surfer SEO for optimisation

Here's how I'd start if I were doing this again:

1. Pick ONE category that solves your biggest time drain
2. Test the free version for 2 weeks
3. Track time saved vs. time invested

The goal isn't to master every tool. It's to find 2-3 that genuinely improve your workflow.
