Most personality tools ask who you are. The problem is, we're terrible at answering that honestly.

We're building Trove to flip it: instead of self-reporting, you play through scenarios. Your choices do the talking. Behavioral science meets interactive fiction -- patterns emerge that you couldn't have told me yourself.

I've spent a decade in consumer product, most recently building Co.Lab (Forbes 30U30) where we proved that confidence grows through doing. 

Trove is the logical next question: what else can we learn about people from what they do instead of what they say?

Founder at Trove, a new way to know yourself | Forbes 30 under 30

Yesterday was International Women's Day 💐 though honestly? I have a complicated relationship with this one. 

I've never wanted "female founder" to be the headline. If I build something great, I want it to stand on its own. That's always been the goal. 

But at the same time, pretending the playing field is level doesn't make it true. 

I've been in enough rooms, read enough stats and have heard enough stories to know it definitely isn't.

So while I have some personal tension to hold, it doesn't take anything away from what is true: 

Women show up every single day. 

The loud ones and the quiet ones. The ones leading teams and the ones keeping things running behind the scenes. 

The ones just getting started and the ones who've been at it for years. 

The ones who speak up in every room they walk into, and the ones whose impact you don't fully see until they're gone. 

The ones who had to fight for their seat. And the ones trying to make sure the next woman doesn't have to fight as hard. 

And that’s just in a WORK context! 

Now if we consider all of what women do in our personal lives? Pffffttttt. The list is never ending! 

All of that deserves to be celebrated way more than one day a year. 

So happy belated IWD to all my women out there 💛 

I hope you were celebrated yesterday because we so deserve to be!!

I'm so grateful for everyone submitting their applications for Trove! The unfortunate thing though is that there's so many talented applicants but so few roles. 

That's actually where the idea for Trove even came from. 

1) candidates spend so much time applying for jobs. you can upload the same resume, but to answer the behavioural questions? you have to input the same info over and over again. 

what if there was a new type of artifact, that you could build once and use everywhere? 

2) at the end of the day, more authenticity on both sides of the hiring table will result in a better fit. and many (most?) other companies don't provide the same level of transparency back. 

ive been a job seeker too, submitting my resume to 1000+ places... and after so much spraying and praying, it's easy to feel like the goal is just to land an interview and get a job. 

but is that really the best we can do? 

the goal SHOULD be to find a place where there's mutual fit. where you can be happy, and celebrated for how you work and who you are.

I think for solo founders building with a small team, it's always nice to have opportunities to grow your network and frankly commiserate with other founders... 😭😭😭

It was my birthday last week (go me! 🎂), and birthdays make everyone reflective, right? But I've been thinking about how most of that reflection is actually just... 

retelling the same story about ourselves. 

🧧I’m the ambitious one.
😭 I'm bad at confrontation.
🧮 I’m even worse at math. 
🗣️ I'm a people person.

We all have these. 

Things we've believed about ourselves for so long we forgot to ask where they came from. 

A teacher said it. A parent repeated it. We tried something once, it didn't work, and that became the verdict. 

But what if some of these statements are outdated? 

What if the way we actually show up has changed, but the label hasn't caught up yet? 

That's what gets me excited — when we actually get to know the current version of ourselves instead of running on an old one. 

That means we can start making choices that truly feel right instead of choices that just make sense on paper. 

Self-knowledge doesn't have to mean journaling every morning or going on a silent retreat. 

It can just be getting genuinely curious about our own patterns. 

Why did that conversation drain me? Why did that project light me up? Why do I keep saying yes to things that don't fit? 

My birthday wish is that more of us get to live by design instead of by default. 

That starts with being willing to outgrow our own labels 🏷️.

Which honestly? 

Might be the hardest work there is.

Anthropic just released new research on AI's impact on the labor market. The headline could easily be scary. But here's what we can actually take away from it: 
                                                                                     
This chart shows two things: 

1️⃣ The blue area is what AI could theoretically do — tasks it's technically capable of helping with.
2️⃣ The red area is what's actually happening today.

Look at the gap. It's massive. Computer & Math roles, the most exposed category, still only see about 33% of their tasks covered. Most industries are far lower. The research also found no systematic increase in unemployment for workers in highly exposed roles since ChatGPT launched.

But I'm also not going to pretend everything is fine. People are getting laid off. Whole teams are being cut. If you're one of them, a chart showing "it's not that bad yet" obviously doesn't pay your rent.

And the way we're talking about it isn't helping. It's either "you're about to be replaced" or "just learn to prompt." Neither meets people where they actually are.                                 

If you're feeling anxious about all of this - that's rational. But anxious and stuck aren't the same thing. You don't have to become an AI expert by Friday. You just have to stay open. 

Plus, the skills that will matter most aren't technical ones you can learn in a weekend. 

They're the human ones: knowing yourself, adapting, communicating clearly when things are uncertain. Perseverance, grit, problem solving. 

Those aren't skills AI replaces. They're skills it makes more valuable.     

(That's what we're building at Trove, fwiw.)                                       

You already have these skills. You just might not have had a reason to pay attention to them before. Now you do.

It's been 10 days since our beta launch and it's wild to think that 2 months ago we didn't even have a company name! 

Trove's first drop is 3 days of a realistic dating scenario where your choices - not your self-descriptions - reveal how you actually show up in relationships. 

Not a standard quiz. No "rate yourself from 1-5." 

Let's just plop you into a messy, realistic situation and see what decision you make instead!!

Here's what we're seeing so far:

We built something that shows people how they actually behave, and it turns out people are super hungry for that mirror. 🪞

Because here's insight that's shaping everything we do at Trove: there's a massive gap between who people say they are and what they actually do when it matters. 

Resumes, dating profiles, even therapy intake forms — they all rely on self-report. 

But the most interesting data about you is in what you do, not what you say. 

It's how you behave when no one is watching.

trove is an interactive fiction game meets personality quiz. but why this intersection?

well, everyone sounds absolutely perfect on paper — especially now, paired with AI.

someone can say they're kind... but are they actually nice to waiters? or just kind to people in their circle? does the person with the perfect resume actually mean they're gonna be good to work with?

the looming pattern here is that that self-reporting is NOT a differentiator anymore. your behaviour (which is driven by your values and character) is your true unique human edge.

how do you capture all this? how you think, how you react, how you make decisions? i do not believe it should be thru passive background surveillance. you as an individual should be an active participant in shaping your own story. 

this should also be something that's owned by you, the individual. it shouldn't be locked into one platform. think about it like a portable digital identity. build your own behavioural model once, and plug it into all and any of the systems that you use.

now you will prob be like OMG!! ads!! sell this data!! data is the moat!! well sorry to disappoint but i think that's one of the most boring things ever. not only do i think it's not good for the world, i also want to challenge you to think bigger. 

AI IS CHANGING SO MUCH HUR HUR. well why not envision a world that's changed for the better. instead of making money in the same old business models we have traditionally, what else is out there? 

what can a world where each of us is empowered to live their own authentic lives achieve? if we're in relationships with the right people, surrounded by friends that challenge and open our thinking in ways that we can accept, working in environments that truly support us? all this to be explored and we're thinking ads?? cmon now ~ 

anyhow, that's my brain dump. ty for reading!

OK OK OK so I just watched 100 Meters (a sports anime movie) and have so many different takeaways from it. Here’s my main one tho that I wanted to share, particularly to anyone that wants to build something new — to truly be agentic (or whatever word makes sense here) you have to realize there’s no playbook for what you want to achieve. 

There will be people you look up to that give well meaning advice, but that advice is just what’s worked for them. Which is great and still helpful… 

But you have your own reality and your own unique traits and experiences,

So following a certain standard will never truly get you anywhere particularly novel. 

You must stay authentic to yourself cause that’s what will carry you to the spaces that haven’t yet been explored...

and to me that’s so deeply exciting!! 

What are the things humanity doesn’t yet know? 

And it’s so freeing to know that we CAN achieve those kinds of insights. 

There IS far more to be discovered.
