As a leadership and approach coach, my days revolve around guiding individuals and teams to lead with clarity, confidence, and compassion.

Over the years, I’ve learned that leadership starts with self, and that includes how we nourish our bodies. I’ve explored every “healthy eating” philosophy out there, but there was always one thing I avoided: rice.

We’ve all heard the same thing. “Rice slows you down. It adds weight. It spikes your sugar.”

 So, I cut it out completely, even though it was once a staple comfort food growing up.

Then I came across Daawat’s #RiceYourAwareness campaign and the #OnlyRiceNovember challenge, which encourages people to rediscover rice as part of a balanced and mindful lifestyle.

That message really resonated with me because just like leadership, true wellness isn’t about restriction; it’s about awareness, balance, and intentional choices.

So, I’ve joined the 14-day Only Rice November Challenge, and after selecting my preferred days, I received a personalized diet plan curated by nutritionist Nmami Agarwal. I’m genuinely curious to see how this mindful experiment shifts my perspective on food, energy, and balance.

I hired a wonderfully efficient girl, smart, clear, and reliable.
He looked at her and asked me to fire her,

That line stayed with me.
Because 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧 𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐥𝐲, 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞.

📌 When bias gets disguised as “fit.”
📌 When looks start mattering more than logic.
📌 When performance takes a back seat to perception.

That’s not just a hiring problem.

HRs gift what they think is convenient.

Someone said that to my face recently, and I remember being so angry about it. 

Ironically the very same night, I stumbled upon Flipkart ’s spoof report, ‘The Great Indian Corporate Gifting: Unwrapped’ in my mailbox.  It showcased the classic copy-paste gifting energy HRs have. And I laughed so hard as I realised this person I met in the morning wasn't entirely wrong.

One thing I’ve learned after years of building culture and leading HR: appreciation lands best when it feels personal.

𝐀 𝐠𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐠𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐮𝐬𝐞.

That’s why I love the idea of gift cards, they’re thoughtful gifts that say, “I trust your choice.”

When people get to pick what fits their life, appreciation stops feeling like an obligation and starts feeling like a connection.

There’s something incredibly powerful about watching your child play a sport.

For the longest time, I thought effort and coaching were all they needed. It took a few exhausting weeks of training to realise that their bodies need just as much support as their ambitions.

Two people can enjoy completely different things, but if their beliefs about family, money and lifestyle do not align, they will repeatedly face friction.

This is equally true in organisations where teams struggle when values do not match, even if skill sets do.

Second, consistency is a reliable indicator of character.
One-off good days or bad days do not define a person.
Patterns do.

Repeated behaviour, over time, reveals who people truly are.

In leadership, this is the foundation of trust.

In relationships, it is the foundation of stability.
