WARNING: Super stong script that defies guru advice incoming

Granted this guy works for Oracle - makes a big difference - but it’s worth studying some of the subtleties.

Few against the grain things I think he does really well

1) says “How are you” with intentional descending inflection. It’s almost a rhetorical question- he is setting up the bull rush

Goes against feedvice (that is my new term for marketing content masked as bad advice) but think about what he’s doing

If you’ve ever trained in a combat sport, setting up your move is the key part of the whole thing. You can’t telegraph a left hook or triangle choke and expect it to work against a trained opponent 

2) he bull rushes an “anti pitch” — there are no features, doesn’t even mention a product.

Sounds like he’s supposed to be there. It’s a Jedi mind trick - I’m sorry folks this does work. If there is any meta psychology to be considered, this is where it is.

Everything else people do comes off as desperate. Forget about “show them you know them” - this guy is booking meetings by metaphorically walking into the room with a clipboard and pretending like he’s supposed to be there.

Disclaimer— if the pre call research works for you, keep doing it— most of the feedvice is based on people not wanting to cold call or having a big ego about BEING cold called, and then transposing their own mindset onto their prospects.

Truth is nobody cares about this as much as some VP tryna get famous on linkie. Most finance or ops people esp in non saas just don’t want you to suck.

This guy doesn’t sound like he sucks. 

3) he goes straight for the meeting - the guru feedvice says to uncover pain blah blah - I’m not buying it. That’s a problem for future me. First part is to get some time by being a Jedi on the phone.

LeadMagic has literally THE best API in the biz. It never errors out, super fast - I have driven this thing hard and it always works. 

I watched Jesse build this thing from scratch after getting burned by big SaaS. Started a whole movement. It's pretty rad. SYC is epic. People have tried to shut it down and it can't be stopped. Not sure how you pulled this one off man but bravo. 

Find linkedin profile, find mobile, find work email -- jam that thing and watch the money roll in.

So much of what I see here is geared toward clickbait and engagement farming rather than actual utility. Polarizing strong takes that speak in absolutes.

It doesn’t serve the audience as much as it serves the poster. If you’re reading things on the feed, you’re in their funnel. Myself included - this is how things work.

But I think it’s really important to be aware of this as a rep. You are not reading a textbook. You are reading marketing copy of someone who is trying to sell something. 

I try to be as blunt and realistic as possible when I write on here. It doesn’t get as much attention but I don’t care. I’ll sleep better at night knowing I am being honest.

Do I want to sell cold calling services to you? Probably not, actually. I’m looking for specifically early stage founders who want a jumpstart on outbound. They’re probably not shopping for it on the feed.

I’m not selling a course, there’s no cohorts, there’s no waiting list. So you can see how the content is tuned differently. 

What I do want is when someone goes to do their research before they sign a contract with me, they find someone who is very honest and transparent. Back channel same. 

Cold calling is dead, cold email is dead, it’s all dead but somehow we still book meetings every week. 

I could detail the process and people still wouldn’t do it. The thing is, people WANT cold calling to be dead. Because it sucks to do. That’s why we do it for you.
