I'm a long-time data leader, currently leading ReportingApplications.com, a consulting company focused on building - you guessed it - Reporting Applications.

We believe there’s an art to building great reporting applications, but not many people have focused on this area deeply enough to become experts.

Prior to starting ReportingApplications.com I was the founder of Delivery Layer - a SaaS product that powered customer facing reporting applications.

Before that I was VP of Data Strategy at Helium 10 where I led all things data (Data Engineering, Data Science, Data Product Development and Analytics). I previously ran product & analytics with P&L responsibility for Nielsen Sports, the global leader in Sports Sponsorship data.
  
Early in my career I ended up with the mix of statistical, business analysis and programming skills that would turn into the ideal background for a data scientist. Since then, I've been leading data teams, building data products and running data businesses.

My philosophy is that data isn't the hero - it's the sidekick. It's only valuable if it improves the lives of your customers, or helps someone make better decisions.

It is important to me to make real difference with my time, so I focus my efforts on adding value as much as possible. I try to add value to my companies culture, processes and people. 

I believe the trick to adding great value is to not be too picky about the types of roles one plays even if it is outside of ones job responsibilities.  Every project/initiative has gaps that need to get filled or that are being neglected.  Often these gaps constitute work that many consider beneath them or simply less desirable.  

I am happy helping where I can including facilitating meetings, interfacing with business users, writing up technical requirements, coming up with architecture, developing software, handling support and operations, organizing workloads, negotiating timelines, developing product road maps, mentoring, holding crucial conversations....or just about any other role. 

Regardless of the role I am motivated when I can see a clear path for the desired benefits and for a programs continued success.
