I am a gastroenterologist, physician leader, clinical administrator, informatics physician, academic, and advisor.

Committed to the greater good, I write here and at Forbes to connect the dots, spark thoughtful conversations, and learn from and connect with others who share a passion for improving healthcare.

Sitting at the intersection of clinical practice, operations, and technology, I enjoy explaining how healthcare works and imagining how it can work better. 

I am fascinated by how artificial intelligence and other digital technologies are reshaping medicine. I am also particularly interested in redesigning specialty care.

I aim to integrate mind and body in both clinical practice and life. 

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, music, sports, reading, and swimming, most of all in the ocean.

I care for adults with acute and chronic GI conditions – particularly those with disorders of gut-brain interaction (e.g., IBS) and motility (e.g., gastroparesis) – in inpatient, outpatient, and procedural settings. 

I've served as site-PI for 20+ clinical trials and co-authored national constipation practice guidelines. I write and present on topics related to care delivery.

We started Proscia to bring AI to pathology. We're helping our community accelerate advanced therapies and deliver better diagnostics to fulfill the promise of precision medicine. Proscia powers 16/20 top biopharma companies and the largest labs globally, diagnosing 20,000 patients per day. Our products are used by 12,000 pathologists and scientists at large pharma, CROs, hospitals, private labs, and academic medical centers.

85%+ of code written at Proscia is reviewed by code review agents. Up from <10% at the beginning of 2025. 

The impact to product quality has been meaningful, with AI flagging improvements in ~15% of code changes (PRs). And developers have a path to becoming "architects" years or decades in their career earlier. Aside from code review agents, coding agents (including those embedded in the developer environment) are drafting wholesale changes against human-defined specs.

2026 prediction: Other verticals see similar inflection in adoption for similar use cases. Developers are early adopters by nature, and software development is a harbinger for other markets (like Healthcare).
