1) I went from award-winning designer for one of the worlds fastest-selling consumer products in history to director of content at an ASX-listed startup and running marketing at a global Edtech startup.

2) I developed a proprietary playbook and sales system directly responsible for exceeding monthly quotas for direct demo MQLs, and building over 60% of the sales pipeline and 70% of revenue.

3) I built BridgeUs highly popular blog and content engine from zero to 40K engaged email subscribers and over 500 inbound leads per month. 

4) I scaled Webcentrals website and blog from $5M - $20M ARR

Managed the reintegration of men newly released from prison. Helped them construct a new life while staying in our residential homes. Great demand for this service so I always had 13-16 men to oversee as well as communicating with those about to be released into the program.

I worked this 20hrs/wk while studying. I resigned from PCM only because I needed to move to Auckland to begin my counseling internship.

Trained local ministry leaders in developing better financial management systems.

Supporting other single expats with less cross-cultural experience.

Managed 12 staff and 50-200 seasonal laborers on a 2500 acre cropping farm growing export bean & flower seed plus wheat for the local market.

Measured achievements cf starting baseline:
- Reduced annual parts bill by 48%.
- Reduced annual diesel consumption by 31%.
- Reduced aircraft spray contractor expenses by 100% the 2nd year and 70% the next.
- Refurbished our combine for >400% ROI within 2yrs.
- Halved company vehicle mileage.

Conserved soil structure using spraying and deep-ripping instead of the previous soil-pulverising fuel-sucking discing practice.

Improved soil fertility by sourcing and improvising the harvesting and transport of gypsum from Same to West Kili.

Great company, best boss ever, and the stunningly beautiful location made leaving a tough decision.

Decided to stay in Tanzania so I leased a commercial office/yard, bought a truckload of timber, hired cabinetmakers/joiners, and (naively) started a timber trading & furniture-making business with a Tanzanian friend.

When I left ARAD to him 2yrs later to accept a more suitable position it was turning a profit under a good name.

Managing Director

VSA (Volunteer Service Abroad)

A wonderful experience working for the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania developing the staff of their new training facility in rural Tanzania.

- Advisor to local, district, and other regional ELCT agricultural development projects.

- Managed a training centre employing 6 senior and 12 junior staff, and up to 30 labourers. This new 15-acre practical demonstration campus fed and accommodated 64 students. These were small farmers who travelled from all over Tanzania to attend our practical training seminars of 2 weeks duration.

- Leveraged our unique location and expertise to provide bespoke training and accommodation solutions to serve the needs of other local, national, and international NGOs .

It was a challenge living with no electricity or phone and coping with atrocious roads. Overall an amazing adventure interacting with local people from many different tribes and new-to-me circumstances (malaria, giardia, rabid dogs, hyenas, droughts and floods etc). Also got to meet and befriend other expats from all over the world.

I enjoyed operating vehicles in often extreme conditions as well as the many opportunities to see African wildlife!

Spoke Swahili for 90% of my work day interactions. Miss that, such a fun language!

Hands-on daily operational management of all the aspects of a couple of different 150-200 cow dairy farms over this period.

I had the skills and ability plus the knowledge but, TBH, most of the time it was too lonely a work environment for me. I eventually resigned to pursue long-held dreams of adventure in East Africa.
