Not because they don’t want it.

But because visibility brings things up...scary things.

Everyone says January is about rest, reflection, and easing back in.
What it’s actually about is people quietly making decisions before anyone starts shouting.

This is the month when:
Event organizers are booking speakers while their inboxes are still manageable.
Podcast hosts are locking guests before their calendars get ridiculous.
Decision-makers are paying attention because they’re not overwhelmed yet.

Meanwhile, most people are still planning.

They’re refining their goals, tweaking their vision boards, and buying new manifestation card decks and crystals.

I mean... all of that is cool, but it won't make it so you can take an extra vacation next year or go HAM buying Korean skincare (Ok, that last one was autobiographical).

The people who win January visibility are the ones who show up.

At the start of the year, I keep asking speakers a very simple question: "How many pitches have you actually sent?"

That’s usually where things get quiet.

Most people I talk to are thoughtful, capable, and genuinely committed to their goals. They’ve planned. They’ve reflected. They’ve refined their ideas. On paper, they’re “ready.”

And yet, nothing is moving.

It’s not because they lack clarity or talent. It’s because planning feels safe, and pitching asks you to be seen before everything feels finished.

I wrote this article to name that pattern and, more importantly, to show what actually helps speakers get booked when the year is just beginning. It’s practical, grounded, and rooted in what I see work over and over again.
